Have a BLESSED Thanksgiving!

Hi, Parents!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!  I am so humbled and blessed to serve you and your kiddos here at Timothy.  I count you ALL as my richest blessings!  Thank you for being YOU!  God is SO GOOD!

*THANK YOU for contributing to our Thanksgiving Feast!  We had turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, green beans, cooked carrots, a veggie tray, rolls, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin cookies, and apple cider!  Our bellies are full, and we had a GREAT time!  We have learned SO very much about the Wampanoag and the Pilgrims and this first Harvest Festival. We thank our Heavenly Father for all of our amazing gifts!  😊

*We do not have school November 25th-29th.  Teachers have the MO District Teacher’s Conferences the 24th-26th, and then we have Thanksgiving Break!

*WORSHIP—Please come and worship with us next week!  We will have a Thanksgiving Service here at Timothy at 6:00.

*Our CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND SHOP will be on Wednesday, December 4th!  Students will get to shop for 4 presents for the first time! Envelopes are in students backpacks for the children to come back from Thanksgiving break with money to purchase presents. Our preview day is Tuesday, December 3rd. We are excited!

*TALENT SHOW--Lutheran Schools’ Week, January 26-31, is just around the corner!  On Friday, January 31st, which is also Grandparents’ Day, we will have our talent show.  Each class will be attending, and children can sit with their grandparents.  If your child is interested in performing in the Talent Show, tryouts are Thursday, December 5th, after school, in the music room.  We are hoping to be finished by 4:30.  The girls’ basketball teams will have practice that day.  We will have them go first and then send them to practice.  Each child may participate in one independent act, and one class act (if your child’s class is performing as a whole).  We are asking that the performance be no longer than 2-3 minutes.  Please have your child prepared with props, music, and any materials needed.  Music needs to be on a flash drive or cd.  Songs that are being sung need to be instrumental only (no vocals).  Please have this ready by tryouts as we want to hear your child’s voice.  Thank you!  If your child is not performing in the talent show, but would like to submit artwork, crafts, or written work to be displayed, please give that to Mrs. Stevenson or Mr. Hutton by Monday, January 27th.  There is no need to come to try-outs.  Please fill out the permission slip attached and return to Mrs. Stevenson or Mr. Hutton by Tuesday, December 3rd.  Have fun practicing!

*Message about our upcoming CHRISTMAS SERVICE--Preparation has begun for our “Sacred Songs of Christmas Service”.  At 6:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, you will hear “and see” the Nativity Story.  Students will be dressed in attire that fits the telling/singing of God sending us the gift of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Please, stay tuned for what your child will be wearing that night.  We will get that information to you ASAP.  If you have access to costumes or attire that could be used, please, contact your child’s teacher or Mrs. Hatcher.    Thank you for your time.

We are excited to prepare and celebrate. Jesus’ birth with you !

*FIELD TRIP NOTICE!   On Friday, December 13th, we will be headed to see “The Best Little Christmas Pageant Ever” at the Theatre for Young America at Union Station in Kansas City.  (We will soon be reading this book in class!)  ;)  I have reserved 28 tickets.  We will need some drivers to get there and back.  I have the link for the sign-up.  Please check if your student is coming, and if you are able to come and drive.  We will be leaving school at 8:45 and returning by noon.  We will eat sack lunches in our classroom upon return.  Thank you!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION-This week, we studies in detail the 4th and 5th commandments and discussed how to honor God, as well as our parents and other authorities with our words and actions.  We also discussed the how we can break the 5th commandment with our hateful actions and words.  We shared the story of the wisemen and how we can still give gifts to Jesus today by sharing the story of His Good News with others.

 Upcoming MEMORY-

12/3-THE SEVENTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not steal.  What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not take our neighbor’s money or possessions, or get them in any dishonest way, but help him to improve and protect his possessions and income.

 12/6- THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT

You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.  What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor,

LANGUAGE ARTS/SOCIAL STUDIES- We have learned all about the first Thanksgiving this week—All about the Pilgrims and Wampanoags, why the Pilgrims came to America, what their lives were like, and how they worshipped God and took care of their families.  We talked about the Wampanoags, their traditions, and the peace treaty with the Pilgrims.  We read the story, “On the Wide, Dark Sea,” to learn more about the pilgrims’ adventures, hardships, and what they endured.  We are so thankful to be a part of this great country!  So many facts—our noggins are full!  😊

We also tested over our states on Thursday!  We did well!

SPELLING WORDS for Friday, December 6th-

(from “The Best Little Christmas Pageant Ever”) manger, vain, barge, villain, hymn, hustle, cross, urn, retire, pageant, ancestor, congregation, interrupt, truant, imitation, *vengeance

 SPECIAL CLASSES

ART-We learned some Native American symbols, and created some beautiful Wampanoag Art with them!

MUSIC-We are working on our Christmas songs for the Advent Service, “Unto Us,” on December 18th.

P.E.- This week, we learned basketball skills—passing and dribbling!

WRITERS’ WORKSHOP- We wrote about what our families do on Thanksgiving.  It was fun to hear about traditions your families have!

Have a beautiful weekend and BLESSED Thanksgiving!

God's Blessings,

Kim
