Have a Blessed Easter!

Hi, parents! We have had a GREAT week!  Happy Holy Week!

Please join us for church!

Events:
*Please sign and return the bottom portion of your child's mid-term that was sent home last week.  To see missing work, please look on Sycamore and encourage your kiddo to get that missing work in!  Thank you for your help.  :)

*4th Quarter Mission Project:  Our school collected $1, 371 for Beyond the Boulevard!  Now, the doctors and nurses who volunteer their time and talents to this mission will have some extra money for supplies and medication.  Praise be to God!  We got to celebrate our success with some pies in the face!  ;) There are some pictures on our blog.

*TLS RAMS RUN-Please join us for the Rams Run on Tuesday, April 22nd!  This is our 7th annual event.  Timothy invites area Lutheran schools (grades 3rd-8th) to compete in this cross-country race around our beautiful property and have a ton of fun!  Some of our very own 4th graders will be running-Colton, Alex, Eli, Lydia, and Nadia!  ...so come and cheer them on!  The first race begins at 5 pm.

We are still in need of some help too (standing along the course and cheering on runners), so if you are able, please sign-up here:

*NWEA MAP Growth Spring Testing April 28 – April 30
It is time for our Spring NWEA MAP Growth testing!  Optimize your child’s brain power by planning a calm, low-key evening prior to testing days, making sure students get enough sleep, and making sure they eat a good breakfast each day.  Thank you!

*BOOK REPORTS-4th graders received information about their May book reports last week.  We are going to make Bio Lap books, and each kiddo has the directions and a colored file folder to get started.  These are in back packs.  First off, they need to read their biographies and take notes!  We will be working on these during Writers' Workshop next week, so please make sure the supplies stay in backpacks.  Thank you.   These are due May 9th.

You have been invited to attend 4th Grade’s Famous Missourian Living Museum
When?  Wednesday, May 14th, from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

*4th GRADE'S END-OF-THE-YEAR FIELD TRIP is on Thursday, May 15th.  This is an all-day trip!  We will be visiting the Harry S. Truman Library for a schedule tour at 9:30, then head over to McCoy Park for a picnic lunch and to play a bit.  Afterwards, we will hike some trails at Burr Oak Woods.   We will need parent help, so if you are able, please sign up!  Thank you!  (Also, don't forget to not sign up for hot lunches that day!)  ;)
Hello, parents! To culminate our studies of Missouri History, we are going to Fort Osage and the Harry S. Truman Memorial Library and Museum on Thursday, May 15th! We will leave school at 8:45 and head to the Truman Library (500 W US HWY 24, Independence, MO 64050) for our tour at 9:30.  After this guided tour, we will head to McCoy Oark, (across from the Truman Library) for a sack lunch and to play awhile.  Afterwards, we will head to Burr Oak Woods and hike their Bethany Falls Trail.   After this, we will head back to school for dismissal at 3:30.  We were able to receive a scholarship for the museum tour, so all of the students and 10 adults are free. (If you sign-up after the 10, there will be a fee.)  The tour is about two hours long. We will need drivers for this day-long event, so if you can, please sign-up below, and indicate how many kiddos you can take. If you would like to go, and all the slots are taken, please email me and let me know.  What a fun day!  (Don't forget a sack lunch and

*YEARBOOK ORDERS
It is yearbook time!  A flyer was sent home with a code for ordering your 2024-2025 yearbook.  Books will be distributed next fall.  The cost for each book will be $15.  Orders will be received until May 16.

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: We read the accounts of the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus' Crucifixion from all four of the Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  We compared them and talked about the differences.  We created Holy Week books, a timeline, and also had a sequecing activity, where we had to put the events in order.  We watched some amazing videos that the kiddos want me to share with you.

If you have never heard of the Skit Guys, please check them out.  They are wonderful pair of friends who have dedicated their lives to spreading the Good News of Jesus.  They are comedians and actors, and I have seen them a handful of times at various youth events that I have volunteered at.  Anway, here are a couple of videos that I shared with the kids, that they loved:

We also listened to and analyzed the song "Watch the Lamb," by Ray Boltz, after we discussed Simon of Cyrene and what his job had been.  It is beautiful and emotional, and it led to a wonderful classroom discussion about how Jesus was the FINAL sacrifice for us.  Thanks be to God!
