Have a lovely weekend!

Hi, parents! We have had a GREAT week!  We have been busy!

We have quite a few coughs and colds in here and seems like we are sharing an awful lot!  ;) I have been Cloroxing like crazy, and urging kiddos to cough into their sleeves, and to get plenty of rest and Vitamin C!   If you would like to send in cough drops, please do so in a labeled bag, and I will keep these in the office for the kiddos.  Thank you.

Events:
*We dismiss at 12:30 today!  Midterms will be in backpacks.  Just a reminder:  The grades are an indication of your child’s progress after the first five weeks of the grading period.  These grades are not the final quarter grades and are not recorded on their permanent records.  The grades are intended only to show the student’s progress at this point and to indicate areas where he or she may have to spend more time studying.  To see missing work, please look on Sycamore.  Please go over this report with your child. Sign and return the bottom portion by Monday.  Thank you!

*We will have SNOW MAKE-UP days on April 17th and 21st.  If you already have traveled planned, please just let the office know.  Thank you!

*TLS RAMS RUN-Please join us for the Rams Run on Tuesday, April 22nd!  This is our 7th annual event.  Timothy invites area Lutheran schools (grades 3rd-8th) to compete in this cross-country race around our beautiful property and have a ton of fun!  The first race begins at 5 pm, so please come and cheer on the Rams!  We are still in need of some help too (standing along the course and cheering on runners), so if you are able, please sign-up here:

*BOOK REPORTS-4th graders received information about their May book reports this week.  We are going to make Bio Lap books, and each kiddo has the directions and a colored file folder to get started.  These are in back packs.  First off, they need to read their biographies and take notes!  These are due May 9th.

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: We have learned all about Palm Sunday, Jesus washing His disciples' feet, and Jesus before the council.  Next week, we will learn about The Last Supper and Good Friday.  We assembled books about Holy Week and have been reading the account from God's Word.  We also have been opening our Resurrection Eggs and discussing symbolism.  We have discussed how we cannot put our confidence in ourselves to live faithfully.  The only sure thing is the grace of God in Christ!  Jesus remains faithful even when all others around Him are faithless.

MEMORY: 4/15-”To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.  O my God, in You I trust.” ~Psalm 25:1-2a
4/25-(Jesus said,) “In the world you will have tribulation.  But take heart. I have overcome the world.”  ~John 16:33

LANGUAGE ARTS: We have been learning more about Harry S. Truman and his childhood this week.  We have learned about his friendships that helped shape who he was, the jobs that helped create his work ethic, and how his friendship with Bess Wallace blessed his life.  We worked on sequencing and finding context clues this week.

SPELLING WORDS for next THURSDAY, April 17th: (from the book Harry S. Truman: Thirty-Third President of the United States)
positive, believe, presence, wonderful, interesting, delicious, schedule, temperature, church, request, *excruciating

MATH: We have been working on turning decimals into fractions and adding them.  We compared decimals and fractions and have worked a bit with adding money.  We worked with adding decimals and reviewed this unit today!  There have been four of us so far that have passed our final Multiplication Test!  WOOHOO!  We have another month to keep trying!  Students that pass will have an ice cream party the last week of school!  I KNOW that they all can do this!  We have been working so hard all year!

MO HISTORY: This week, we discussed all of the arts, music, architecture, and recreation that Missouri has to offer!  We learned all about jazz music, and Charlie Parker and Count Basie.  We learned about several famous authors like Mark Twain and Laura Ingalls Wilder that are from Missouri.  We also talked abut the sports teams and famous players from Missouri.

SPECIALS:
Art- We used watercolors to paint Spring flowers that are now adoring the hallway!
Music- We practiced our songs for our Spring Concert, which is May 8th.
