Have a wonderful weekend!

 Hi, Timothy families!

It was wonderful visiting with you at conferences!  Thank you for taking time out of your schedules to check in about how your kiddo is doing in 4th grade.  We are having such a fun year... I love them all so very much!
*Next week, we will be learning all about the Reformation and Martin Luther.  On REFORMATION DAY, (October 31st), we will have a special German lunch (provided by the Brunkhorsts).  Students are welcome to bring their own lunches or to partake in our feast in the classroom.  We will be having family recipes of wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut, German potato salad, corn, and German chocolate cake.  We will have our Fall Party in the afternoon.   (Oh, and book reports are also due Friday, October 31st!  Just a reminder!)
*If you are able, on Monday, October 27th, please order dinner from MOD Pizza in Blue Springs. Mention Timothy Lutheran with your order and we will receive a portion of the proceeds. This offer is good ALL DAY LONG!

*PTL invites you to order some rolls (or gift cards) from Texas Roadhouse.  Those scrumptious rolls they offer as an appetizer can be ordered for $8/dozen now through November 7. Our school gets to keep 50% of the proceeds! They can be picked up after church on 11/23 or from 3 - 6 pm on 11/24.  Sales forms came home this week.

*TRIVIA NIGHT is right around the corner!  The theme is "Thankful for the Greats". Gather up your smart friends and form a team for a night out on 11/7. Don't have any smart friends? Come as you are and we can find some for you. Check out this link for prices, time, location, and to sign up: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/trivia-night-tickets-1778426935839?aff=oddtdtcreator. Questions? Contact PTL's fearless leader, Clancy Heisel at clancyh@timothylutheran.com.
*We will be commemorating Veteran's Day on Tuesday, November 11th, with a service celebrating them.  Our students will be singing, reading poetry and prayers, and thanking God for our veterans.  That day, please have your student wear one of the following:
  1. Their "America the Beautiful" red t-shirt from last year

  2. A Rams Shirt

  3. Red, White, and Blue

  4. Or, if they have a uniform or hat from a branch of the service that belongs to someone they love, they can wear/bring it.  Thank you!

We encourage you to use the attached flyers to invite family, friends, and neighbors to Timothy Lutheran School’s Veterans Day Celebration.  Everyone is welcome!
 Date:  Tuesday, November 11th, 2025
Time:  9:00 am
Coffee and Donuts will be served at 8:30 am
*Also, if you have any veterans you love and want us to celebrate in our slideshow, please send information to me (kimb@timothylutheran.com) by November 3rd.  Thank you!  (You can also use the QR Code on the flyer.)
Here is what is needed for each veteran:
-A photograph (digital copies are preferred, please):
-First and Last Name of the veteran
-Which student is this veteran related to, and how...
-Branch of Service
-Years of Service
-Any other important information you may want added!
(If your photos were in last year’s slideshow, please let us know this, as that information has been saved and you don’t need to send it in again.)
THANK YOU to all veterans!  It is humbling to know how many have given their lives, their time, and their service to God, to us, and to our country.  Thank you SO much!

*On Tuesday, November 25th, at 11:00, the 4th graders will have their classroom THANKSGIVING FEAST in lieu of lunch. We will be studying the first Thanksgiving and all about the Pilgrims and Wampanoag. We will also be talking about all the things we, as Christian Americans, should be thankful for! What a wonderful way to praise our Father for all He has given! I will supply the turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy, but if you are willing to send in some “extras” it would be mighty appreciated!  Please take a look at the sign-up if you are able!  (I have several outlets in our classroom for crock pots, if needed.)  Thanks so much for your help!
Here is what we have been up to this week:
RELIGION- RELIGION- We have learned the stories of Solomon and Elijah and the Prophets of Baal.  These were new stories to some of us, but the lessons had one constant:  We put many things before God, and we need to remember to keep Him foremost and center in our lives.  He gives us so many blessings, and many times, we overlook those, to focus on the negative things that are happening around us.  We need to remember that we are blessed beyond measure.
We shared the Chapel message this week all about the Widow and the Judge and about Psalm 121—Where does our help come from?  Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth!  I was SO very proud of the kids.  They spoke with confidence and shared the Good News of Jesus so well!
Next week, we will be learning all about Martin Luther and the Reformation.  We will be combining Religion class and Language Arts, as we dive deep into Martin’s life, and learn how he stood up for his faith, and helped reform the church by spreading the GOOD NEWS of Jesus!

MEMORY: 10/28- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other gods.
What does this mean?  We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

10/31- THE SECOND COMMANDMENT-You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

LANGUAGE ARTS- We read about the collage artist Romare Bearden in the story, “Me and Uncle Romie.”  We learned all about Harlem and collage painting!  The skills we talked about this week: finding a theme, idioms, and verb tense.
SPELLING WORDS for Friday, October 31st:
Martin Luther, afraid, church, knight, monk, trust, choir, shield, scare, forgiveness, indulgence, Lutheran, heaven, victory, statements
Challenge Word: Reformation
MATH- We began Unit 5 this week—factors, multiples, finding the patterns in numbers.  Factors were tough for us, so we reviewed these a few days before moving on to multiples.  We finished up 6's in our mad minutes and will begin 7's next week.  This is helping us with our factors and multiples!

MISSOURI HISTORY- We began MO History this week!  We learned about Missouri being the 24th State, about the "Show Me State," and about our state bird, the Eastern Bluebird.
SPECIAL CLASSES
ART- We used the knowledge we gained about collages in Language Arts and put that to use!  We made collages of pumpkins using old hymnal paper, magazines, construction paper, watercolor, tempera paint, oil pastels, Sharpie, glue, and Modge Podge.
MUSIC- During music class, we have been practicing songs for the Veterans' Day Program and for our Advent Service.
P.E.- We learned how to play Dr. Dodgeball this week.
SPANISH- Students learned to count to 100 in Spanish and learned about the Spanish holiday, the Day of the Dead.  They discussed how this is not a religious holiday, but a way of remembering their ancestors.
COMPUTER-We began publishing our Fractured Fairytales.

Have a blessed weekend!
Kim
