A Mighty Fortress is Our God!

At Chapel, Mr. Kuecker shared how God is our Fortress!  A Mighty Fortress is our God!

Hi, all!  Happy Reformation Day and Happy Halloween!  Have fun tonight!

We have had a GREAT week learning all about Reformation and Martin Luther.   Today, we enjoyed a German lunch.  We had family recipes of wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut, German potato salad, corn, and German chocolate cake.  I have to say that all of the kids tried everything, and I was so proud of them!  It was fun feasting in our classroom!  We also had our Fall Party this afternoon.  We had a great time hunting some math zombies, playing Reformation/Halloween charades, playing Bingo, and drawing Dice Monsters!  We also ate some snacks, dipped some apples in caramel, drank some apple cider, and watched “It’s the Great Pumpkin!”  Good ol’, Chuck!  ;)  We had a GREAT time!
Upcoming Events:

*On Tuesday, November 25th, at 11:00, the 4th graders will have their classroom Thanksgiving Feast in lieu of lunch. We will be studying the first Thanksgiving and all about the Pilgrims and Wampanoag. We will also be talking about all the things we, as Christian Americans, should be thankful for! What a wonderful way to praise our Father for all He has given! I will supply the turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy, but if you are willing to send in some “extras” it would be mighty appreciated!  Please take a look at the sign-up if you are able!  (I have several outlets in our classroom for crock pots, if needed.)  Thanks so much for your help!
Here is what we have been up to this week:
RELIGION/LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned all about Martin Luther and the Reformation.  We dove deep into Martin’s life, and learned how he stood up for his faith, and helped reform the church by spreading the GOOD NEWS of Jesus!  We read several stories about Martin, watched a few videos, dug into God’s Word, and analyzed parts of his life.  We created small Luther Seals to share our faith with a friend.  We also learned the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress,” penned by Martin Luther himself.  We are so thankful for the blessing he is to our faith, yet we know he too, was a great sinner.  We discussed ways we can stand up for our faith too—not recant---and share the love of Jesus everywhere we go!
We also have dissected the first and second commandments and their meanings.  We talked a lot about putting God first in our lives and respecting His name.
We discussed nouns, verbs, adjectives this week, as well as character analysis.  The kiddos loved this song called, “Reformation Rock,” by Lost and Found, so I promised I would share the video with you…So, you too, can hum this song day and night.  You are welcome.  :)  https://youtu.be/tsbRDyErfOI
MEMORY:
11/4-What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so we do not curse, swear, use satanic arts, lie, or deceive by His name,
11/7-but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.
