Hello, 4th grade family! It's been a wonderful week! It was wonderful seeing some of you moms on Wednesday! The kiddos shared that they had a good time sharing their research projects with you!
Upcoming Events:
*4th grade hosts Chapel next Wednesday, March 11th, at 8:45. If you are able, please come!
*End of 3rd quarter is March 13th. We have a 12:30 dismissal that day.
*TLS hosts the Lenten Dinner on March 18th! Please come if you can! We will eat at 6:00, and worship from 6:30-7:00.
*Please mark your calendars! Palm Sunday is March 28th. Students, K-5th, will be singing at the beginning of both services (9 am and 10:30 am). Please plan to bring your kiddo to sing his or her praises to the Lord! We have been working SO hard!
*We are headed to the School of Economics on Tuesday, March 31st! We have all of our parent volunteers for that day, but are still in need of some parents to drop us off that morning. We will need to leave school at 9:10, and then some of the parents that are volunteering to work and go through training that day will take us back to school afterwards.

Other important information:
-A paper copy permission slip came home last week. Please sign and return this form.
-There is not a cost for you, as you paid for this field trip in your enrichment fees this fall.
-Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as they will be making their own lunches that day. **If your child has food allergies and would rather bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred - please speak with your child's teacher. (Volunteers will be given School of Economics money that day to buy lunch too!)
-Our day ends there at 1:30, so we should return to school about 2:00.
-If you want to help, but all the spots are taken, please contact your child's teacher, and we'll put you on a "will-call" list in the case that another parent has to back out. Thank you in advance for your help! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
RELIGION- We have dug deeper into Luther's Catechism this week and have discussed the 7th petition, the close of the Lord's Prayer, and Baptism. We reviewed the stories of Job, the woman who came to Jesus to ask Him to heal her daughter, the story of the rich man and the poor man, and of Jesus' Baptism. We are reminded of the power of God and the saving grace of Jesus Christ. We had a very great discussion about Baptism and the beautiful gifts we receive!

LANGUAGE ARTS- This week, we began the Newbery Award winning novel, “Ramona and Her Father,” by Beverly Cleary. We love hearing all about Ramona’s antics! This week, we also learned some new vocabulary words, discussed adverbs and contractions, reviewed what the word "infer" means, and also discussed character development.

MATH- We tested over multiplcation and division of fractions this week, and then began Chapter 12, where we are learning about fractions as decimals. We have finished 100 mad minutes, which is a milestone! Woohoo! Students will begin testing for their final multiplication exam. We will celebrate all that have passed in May with an ice cream sundae party!
SCIENCE- This week, we took a test over Chapter 2 and began learning all about athropods, insect, complete metamorphosis, and incomplete metamorphosis in Chapter 3.
SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS- On Tuesday, we learned about the shops available, what jobs we can have and what their salaries are, and how we apply for these jobs. Job applications are due next Tuesday, March 10th, during our job interviews. On Thursday, we heard our mayoral candidates give their speeches, and we voted by secret ballot to elect Elijah Lantsberger as our new Mayor of School of Economics! Congratulations!
MISSOURI HISTORY- We discussed the Missouri state flag, Missouri's nickname, and the explorers that "founded" our state.
Special Classes:
Art- This week, we learned all about Roy G. Biv! We all listened to the same story and then created pictures of Roy, learning all of the colors of the rainbow!
Music- Students worked on the beautiful music for our songs for Palm Sunday and for our Spring Program.
Computer Lab-We worked on typing skills and on our Google Docs skills as we published our "Mom Research papers."
P.E.- We are working on jump-roping skills. This is a hard skill for some, so if they get the opportunity, please have them practice—It is great exercise too! They can borrow a jump rope from school, if needed!
Spanish-Students spoke and wrote sentences using nouns, verbs, and adjectives.
Writers' Workshop-We finished drafting our Mom Research Papers and shared them at Readers' Theatre.
