Third and Fourth Grade News
April 10, 2014
Hello, Parents!  Our musical, Rescue in the Night, is tonight!  The students sound SO great, and they all are amazing in their roles.  We are all SO excited!  Please remember, your child needs to be here at 6:30 in their t-shirt and blue jeans.  Thank you so much!  You will be very impressed, and tickled!
Our all-school Fun Day is getting near! We need lots of parent help this day.  Here’s the link to the sign up –

TIMOTHY LUTHERAN SCHOOL – APRIL MISSION PROJECT
This is another quick reminder that our mission project ends next week.  (April 30th). We have the opportunity to support two Timothy Lutheran School graduates who are responding to God’s call to spread the Gospel.  Samantha Hatfield and Rebecca Patterson, who graduated in 2012, are going on a mission trip to Nicaragua May 24-31.  Please bring supplies in!  Our basket in the hallway is getting full!  Thank you!

Here is what we have been up to in our classroom:

Easter/Religion- We had Easter stations this week, where we reviewed Holy Week, created beautiful art projects, and also had some fun math centers.

Reading/Spelling- We reviewed our stories from last week, Dog-of-the-Sea-Waves and Owen and Mzee.  We tested over these and our spelling words today.  We worked a lot on our biography rugs this week!  Please remember that 4th grade’s is due next Wednesday.  Thank you!  3rd graders have until May 15th

Math- We have several more students (4) on their way to Winstead’s!  Yeah!  Thank you for working with your child on their facts.  Third graders this week worked with word division and tested today.  We will begin longer multiplication next week.  Fourth graders are now pros at long division.  They have been working very hard and deserve your praise!  Yeah, 4th grade!  Next week, we will test over this skill.  On Monday, we had fun graphing jelly beans and solving for mean, median, range, and mode.  Then, we got to enjoy our snacks!

Special Classes:
Art-We created tissue paper crosses and butterflies this week that look like stained glass.  They are beautiful.  We also worked on our Biography Rugs.  Please check out our magical circuses and our night gardens in the hallway outside of our classrooms.  Thank you!
Writing-We have been busy reading our biographies and taking notes.  This week we began creating our final drafts for the biography rugs.
P.E.- We worked on track and field events—running long jump, races, obstacle courses, and stretching.
Music- The musical!!!  We will get back to regular music practice next week.
