Dear Parents,
Hello, Parents! It has been a busy week…and WE ARE FINISHED
WITH OUR TESTING! WooHoo! I am so proud of the children, as they worked
so hard this week! By noon every day,
their little brains seemed drained, but they all had positive attitudes and
worked very hard. J Mr. Kuerschner will soon send the test forms
in, and as soon as we get results, we will send them your way. Thank you for helping out with great breakfasts,
and sending in healthy snacks and mints.
We did not have any of our core subjects
this week, but will continue with them next week.

We did have Science this week! We
have been learning all about the life cycles of plants (flowers and conifers),
and the life cycles of insects (ladybugs), amphibians and reptiles (frogs and sea
turtles), and animals (cheetahs). The
children have learned many new vocabulary words, which they will begin studying. We will be testing on this material next
week.
We also had Religion. We are
still studying the Lord’ Prayer. This week,
we discussed why God’s name is hallowed, and why we should always revere
it. The children had a lot of great
ideas of how to remind others to use His name for worship and prayer too. J
During DEAR Time, we finished up “Ramona and Her Father” and have
begun reading “Ramona Quimby, Age 8.” It
is fun to see what she it up to, and all of her antics! 4th graders shared their mystery book reports today too! They did a great job! Movie posters are hanging in the
hallway! New forms for March came home today. Third grade book reports are due the last day
of the quarter, March 13th.
Please get in February Reading Logs by Monday.
Here is what we did during Specials
this week:
Art-We
worked on our Trivia Night project—“Rooted in Christ.” More details to come!
Music-we
practiced our recorders and had Recorder Karate sessions. They are still doing
great! Please urge your child to practice at home… Just so you
are aware, we had a whole class discussion, and an awesome life lesson, when a
handful of them did not pass their session this week. We talked about always
trying hard and practicing and doing our best, yet, sometimes, we just have to
lose gracefully, and try again! Thank
you!
P.E.-we
had more fun with the parachute. This week we played “Snake Soup” and “Fruit
Salad.” Writing-We
continued writing persuasive essays. Many of them are on the publishing
step now! These are due March 3rd.
Spanish-We
are getting ready for Cinco de Mayo! You will hear a lot about partners
and dancing! Please make sure we encourage
our children with this. I have reminded
them that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and that it is one 5 minute
dance. J Mrs. Carrasco will send home a note detailing
information soon. Thank you!
Reminders:
- Enrollment
forms have been issued to all current students. Enrollment will open
up to new families soon. Please send your forms back in as soon as
possible to reserve your spot for next year! The due date for early enrollment is
today!
- Our
ECC and School are sponsoring the Lenten supper next Wednesday, March 4.
We will be serving pizza, salad, and cookies. If you are
willing, we would like a $5 donation toward costs, OR a dozen
cookies. We will have student artwork on display for our
congregation to see. We’re excited for this opportunity to be more
visible to our church! Thank you for your help!!
- For
Trivia Night, our class is sponsoring a STL Cardinals basket! If you
are able and willing, you can send in anything to go in this basket that
has anything to with the Cardinals, St. Louis, birds, etc., anything will
be fine! So far, we have received any awesome Cardinals jersey, and
some adult beverage commitments! ;) Please keep the ideas coming!
