Dear Parents,
What a great week! Today is
the end of 3rd quarter and report cards will go home next Tuesday,
March 17th. The children have been working very hard to get their grades
up to where they want them to be! Monday begins a new clean slate for 4th
quarter. Can you believe that our school year is ¾ finished?
Goodness!
Memory for the next
few weeks:
March
17- For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let
Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen.
March
20- Say the entire Evening Prayer.
In Religion, we
still are continuing with the Lord’s Prayer. This week we discussed
“daily bread” and all of God’s blessings.
Language Arts: 3rd
graders read, “Life on the Ice,” and 4th graders read about
Sacajawea, which was another mini-biography that they all enjoyed. We
learned about adjectives and found them in sentences. In cursive this
week, we learned r, s, and t. We continued with Book Clubs this week, and
took on new roles. Third graders shared their book reports this morning
and all did well! Their next book report will be over a biography and the
project is one that we will begin at school.

Math was SO fun this
week! We changed up the pace a little bit and had a class unit about polygons,
lines, and circles. Today we learned about radius, diameter, and
circumference, and the I introduced Pi. We measured circles in the
classroom, including the pie that we ate! Yum! Happy Pi Day
tomorrow! 3.14.15 J
We had our Science
test about heredity, plants, and animals today! They did well!
These graded tests will be coming home next week.
Here is what we
did during Specials this week:
Art-we
began self-portraits of what we want to be when we grow up… We will paint these
next week! Music-we practiced our recorders and had
Recorder Karate sessions. They are still doing great! Please urge
your child to practice at home… and to remember to bring his or her recorder to
school!
P.E.-We
learned the rules of four-square and enjoyed the beautiful weather by playing
it outside
Writing-We began autobiographical sketches. Most of us
completed the planning sheets—which were fun and easy—as we wrote about
ourselves! Next week, we will go through the other steps of the writing
process.
Spanish-We
are getting ready for Cinco de Mayo! Thursday we practiced dancing!
Please remember to send shoes with your child on Thursdays if needed.
Reminders:
- Enrollment
forms have been issued to all current students. Enrollment will open
up to new families soon. Please send your forms back in as soon as
possible to reserve your spot for next year.
- For
Trivia Night, our class is sponsoring a STL Cardinals basket. We are
still taking items at any time up until April 10th. Thank
you.
- On
Saturday, March 21st, Timothy Lutheran School has been invited
to take place in a special choir and worship event with the Chamber Choir
from Trinity Lutheran church in Lisle, IL. They have invited us to
participate in their worship and a concert here at Timothy—the North
Campus. A note went home this week about it. It is from
3:30-6:00, and then Saturday evening worship at 6:00. Please let
Mrs. Fangmann or myself know if you are going to be able to come.
Hope you can make it!
