Dear Parents,
It’s been a beautiful week!  Here are a few reminders about upcoming events:

·         For all the students who took our achievement tests last month, results went home with home- schoolers yesterday and full time students today.  If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
·         We lead Chapel next week!  (That snuck up on me!)  Next Monday and Tuesday we will be working on our message about Jonah.  If you would like to join us for Chapel on Wednesday, it is from 8:45-9:15.  Thanks!
·         EASTER BREAK starts at the end of next week!!  Students will have specials classes in the MORNING on Thursday before we dismiss at 1:00.  There will be NO SCHOOL on both Friday and the following Monday.  Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 7 (which is also our Harvester’s field trip… see info below).  There will be spelling words and a new reading story next week.  The tests will be on Thursday morning.
·         Our new mission project has had TREMENDOUS success!!  With only being a week-and-a-half into this project, we have already passed the halfway point to raising $800!!  Thank you so much for your generosity and support.
·         Today, the Chapel family that had the most money in their jar were able to wear their pj’s to school, bring blankets and pillow, and had a surprise hot chocolate and cookie snack this afternoon!  J
·         VERY SOON our students are going to be going to Harvester’s in April!  We need lots of drivers and parents to help when we’re there.  If you are interested, check out this link.
·         Cinco de Mayo - Our program is scheduled for Monday, May 4.  DRESS INFO:
Boys- blue/black jeans, white short/long sleeved shirt, dress shoes or cowboy boots; Girls- hair in a bun if possible, white short sleeved blouse with no decals/prints on it, shorts to wear under their dancing skirt, dress shoes.  Girls will need to arrive by 6:15 the night of the performance; boys will need to arrive by 6:30.  If you have any questions, direct them to Mrs. Carrasco at trianac@timothylutheran.com
·         Enrollment is still underway!  If you haven’t resubmitted your forms, please do so as soon as possible.  This will help us make necessary preparations for next year!
·         Please mark our graduation date (5/17) on your calendars.  We would love for all students and families to be able to attend, as each grade will be involved in the program!  We are so proud of all of our graduates!!

Here’s what we have been up to:

In Religion we discussed the types of sins:  sins of commission and sins of omission.  We talked about what it means to deny our Savior, and how when we ask God for forgiveness, we receive absolution.

Memory for next week:

Tuesday, March 31-
From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Thursday, April 2nd- Recite the entire Apostle’s Creed.

Language Arts: 3rd graders read the nonfiction selection called, “Migration,” and 4th graders read “I Can Do That,” a very cool biography.  We also learned about run-on sentences and correcting them this week.  In cursive this week, we finished up the alphabet!  We will really start practicing writing cursive sentences and words now!

Math was fun again this week, as we learned as a whole class!   This week, we tested over the last three units and we got into standard measurement—by the inch, foot, yard, and mile.  We will continue practicing measuring things next week, and will also learn about capacity and weight.  We have two students that passed the Winstead’s test this week!  Yeah!

During Social Studies, we have been talking about ancient civilizations and learning a lot of new terms!

Specials this week:
Art-we finished our self-portraits of what we want to be when we grow up.  We also began new paintings called “Storm on a Wilderness Lake.”  We listened to forest sounds, and then painted what we “saw” in our heads.  They are turning out to be beautiful!
Music-we practiced our recorders and had Recorder Karate sessions.  The children are really starting to sound beautiful!
P.E.-We learned a game called “Rescue Dodgeball.”  Super fun!
Writing-We continued on our autobiographical sketches and worked on our portraits.  These will be combined in a book that will be copied for each child.  J
