Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Hi, Parents!  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  This week has sped by…and we have been SO busy!  I have my weekend work set out for me, as today is the end of the quarter and I am tackling 3rd quarter report cards.  :) So, this will be short and sweet!
Here are few upcoming events:
*K-8 sing this Sunday, south site, 10 am. We will sing at the beginning of the service. Then students will be dismissed to sit with their families.

* We have been asked to help with the ECC Flower Power Party next Tuesday, March 21.   Within an hour of sending out emails to get drivers, I had enough.  THANK YOU so much for stepping up!  We will leave school around 9:45 and return to school by 11:15

*K-3, the next Young Rembrandts class starts Monday, March 27. Enrollment is open until March 26. You can enroll online at www.youngrembrandts.com/kcmo.

*Trivia Night is fast approaching – April 21! We could use a few volunteers to help promote/sell tickets at the church services the next couple of weeks. Here is the link to the sign-up genius: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c49aaa72ea6fb6-trivia. Thank you in advance for giving of your time in this way.

Religion this Week:
This week, we finished Unit 2 in our “Getting Along” series.  We talked about how we have to communicate to have good solid friendships and relationships.  We discussed the power of body language, and how to “read” what people are feeling.  We also discussed how sometimes body language is misunderstood.  We have learned how “check out” a situation that we may not understand with questions that will help get to the root of the problem.  Today we discussed effective listening and speaking skills, and how to be amazing brothers and sisters in Christ!  We are learning so much!

Math: 3rd graders are working with creating expressions and equations with variables.  We are still working very hard on memorizing multiplication facts!  Please keep working at home.   4th graders are working with factors, multiples, and prime and composite numbers.

Science/Social Studies: The Science Fair was a big success!  Thank you for participating and coming out and “cheering” your child on!  Congratulations to our very own Jimmy and Dalton who took home the coveted 3rd/4th grade trophy for their experiment about growing bacteria.  :) All of the kiddos did great!  We have begun our next social studies chapter about communities, environments, and being good citizens.
