Please check out what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We learned the stories of Jacob and his amazing cream, as well as about Joseph and his coat of many colors.  We discussed the feeling of coveting, jealousy, and hatred, and how to make sure that we ask for God’s help to overcome those sins!  They always seem to lead to behaviors that we regret.
Please remember our monthly mission project - we can HELP those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston!!  Send in any change you have for our chapel offerings each week -OR- keep searching for sponsors for our Walk-a-Thon that takes place next Friday, September 29.  Get those pledges!

Also, come and help out that day!  Check out the sign-up:

Language Arts- We finished up Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing this week!  We tested over it today, and all of the students have grown to LOVE this book!  Next week, we are going to practice a short skit over Chapter 2, and will put it on for the 3rd graders.  We are excited!  Reminder: Newbery winner book reports are due October 2nd.

Math- We worked with regrouping with adding and subtracting this week.  We had some troubles with “subtracting across the zeroes,” but have practiced it A LOT, and are finally getting the hang of it!  Today we worked on word problems.  We will finish this chapter next week, and then begin multiplication!  Please keep practicing those facts at home.

Social Studies- We Chapter 2 in Missouri History.  We will discussed the regions in Missouri, as well as study maps of landforms, rivers, bordering states, etc. We worked on our vocabulary, and also discussed the state bird, the state animal, and the state flower.

SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We learned about LINES--many of them!  Each child drew a contour of any animal he or she chose, and then we filled them in with different types of lines.  They are beautiful!

Writing-We wrote Bio-Poems this week and will publish them next week.  We will then begin on personal narratives.

P.E.-We worked on volleyball game play, and learned a new game called “Scatter!”

Music- We have been practicing our song for church!  The 4th-8th grade choir sings at south campus October 1st. (10:00 service time)  Please have your child wear Timothy shirts and/or colors.  They will meet in the music room at 9:40.  Thank you!  We will begin recorders in October.

Blessings on your weekend,

Kim
