Have a great weekend!

We have been having such a great time at school!  Fourth grade is so much fun!

*We had the Walk-a-Thon this afternoon, and it was a PERFECT day for being outside and praising God with our gifts and talents!  All of us did very well, and completed many laps!  Now, the kiddos just need to collect their money for our friends in Houston by October 11th.  Thank you so much for your support!

*Be sure to stop by our Book Fair!  It is sent up in the lobby outside of the gym.  Today is the last day!

*Please pray for the Parmerlee and Herkamp families.  Sam’s grandpa and Eli’s grandma have recently joined Jesus in heaven.  We pray for God’s peace and love for their families at this time.  We love you!

* The 4th-8th grade choir sings at the south campus this Sunday, October 1st. (10:00 service time)  Please have your child wear Timothy shirts and/or colors.  They will meet in the music room at 9:40.  Thank you!

* Want some new Timothy gear?  Here is the link to purchase what you’d like!  https://timothyschool.itemorder.com/sale
The deadline for orders is Sunday, October 8.  Some of these items may be great stocking stuffers… :)

*Mark your calendars (and tell all your friends and family) to eat out at Chipotle (Blue Springs location) on October 30 - we are holding a fundraiser there and get 50% of the proceeds that night!

*I will not be at school on Friday, October 6th.  I am visiting my very good friend in Atlanta.  :)  Ms. MacLean will be my substitute for that day.

*The Timothy Lutheran School Auction is Saturday, October, 28th at The Cotillion in Blue Springs.  Fliers came home last week. Click on the link for more details and to purchase tickets:

Please check out what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We are learning the story of Moses.  Yesterday, we learned about the story of the 10 Plagues, and today we discussed the Passover.  We are reminded that God is ALWAYS present with us.

Language Arts- We read and worked on the skit from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing this week!  The students did all the planning, the scenery, EVERYTHING, and are ready to perform it for the 3rd graders on Monday afternoon.  We have learned about all the special parts to putting on a simple play.  J  Next week, we will read a story out of our readers entitled Once Upon a Cool Motorcycle Dude
*We learned about complete sentences and fragments.
* Reminder: Newbery winner book reports are due Monday, October 2nd.  We will present these to the class.  The students will receive information about their October book reports on Monday.

Math- We finished up our addition and subtraction unit this week with a test, and have begun multiplication.  We will begin by revisiting simple multiplication and will be moving onto longer problems.  Please help your child stay “on top” of their math by practicing math facts at home!  Thank you so much!

Social Studies- We finished Chapter 2 in Missouri History today!  We completed the review in class today, and I have sent home a review to study at home as well.  Please look for this in Friday Folders.  We will review next week by playing Jeopardy, and we will have our test on Friday.  Science will begin the following week.

SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We practiced contour drawing, with our hands, and CATS!  We chose our favorite cat drawing, and have added tempera paint to make beautiful masterpieces!
Writing-We published our Bio-Poems and wrote letters about God’s grace and love to a soldier.
P.E.-We are working on physical fitness by reviewing body awareness activities such as jumping jacks, jumping rope, hopping, crunches, sprints, etc.  Next week, we will work on some of the Presidential Physical Fitness activities.
Music- We have been practicing our song for church!  We sing this Sunday.  We received our recorders and will begin practicing next week.
Spanish-  4th grade just took a quiz on greetings, number words ranging from 0-60, and all of our review vocabulary.  Our next unit will be on identifying household items, and the second parts of greetings and dialogue. They are doing a great job!

God’s Blessings on your weekend and always,
Kim
