Hello, parents! I am posting early this week, as I am headed out of town early tomorrow morning.
We
have had some crazy, fun this week! :)
Here is what we have been up to:
Religion- We discussed the 10 plagues, the Israelites leaving Egypt, and Miriam and Moses’ song. We also watched “The Prince of Egypt.” In chapel yesterday, Mrs. Mundt introduced our next mission project to our students: Operation Christmas Child! We will be collecting various items (stay tuned for more details next week) to be boxed and sent to children around the world who wouldn't normally receive any gifts.

Next week’s memory:
October 10-Fair is the sunshine,
Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels in the sky.
October 13-Beautiful Savior,
Lord of the nations,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor,
Praise, adoration,
Now and forevermore be Thine!
Language Arts- We put on our skit for the third grade,
and did so well! Please make sure you
check out our blog page to see some pictures!
:) We read “Once Upon a Cool
Motorcycle Dude,” which is a very fun fractured fairy tale. We had fun dissecting this story, and
creating our own. We also had several
lessons about using helping verbs this week.
Spelling Words for the Week of October 13th
spark, prepare, cheer, tear, scarf, scare, repair, earring,
scarce, weird, sharp, rear, spare, gear, hairy, compare, alarm, harsh,
upstairs, square, weary, startle, *copasetic
Math- This week we worked with
multiplication—learning how to relate subtraction and division to it, solving
simple problems, and learning the multiplication properties. Next week, we will dig in further, and start
solving word problems!
Social Studies- We took our test over Missouri
History chapter 2 this week. We will
begin Science next week!
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We finished up painting our Crazy Contour Cat
pictures, and have hung them in the hallway to display.
Writing-We began writing fractured fairytale stories
this week based on our literature reading this week, “Once Upon A Cool
Motorcycle Dude.”
P.E.-We are working on physical fitness by reviewing
body awareness. This week, we worked on
the shuttle run, line jumps, hopping, and jumping jacks. We also took down times and measurements for
Sit and Rach, Shuttle Run, and crunches for the Presidential Physical Fitness
tests.
Music- We began recorders this week, and learning so
much!
Spanish- We
are working on identifying household items, and the second parts of greetings
and dialogue. They are doing a great job!
