Hello, Parents!  It was nice to have a week that was back to “normal.”  What’s that?!  ;)  We have had a wonderful time!

*THANK YOU to you and your kiddos who contributed to the Christmas gifts for the people in need.  I have purchased the gift cards with the money, and I am sure some families’ Christmases will be just a bit brighter this year!  Thank you!

*We have our last Christmas Program practice on Saturday morning AND the performance on Sunday!  See below:
Christmas program info:
Practice times (south site gym):
Saturday, Dec 9 – 10a-noon

Performance:
Sunday, Dec 10 – be here at 5:30 in your classrooms
Performance Attire – think “beach”:
Pants: shorts are first choice. Black, khaki, Bermuda (red or green is a first choice). If you really want your child in pants, then black or khaki.
Tops: Red, green, Hawaiian – again, think beach, but no swim suits
Shoes: Sandals with heel strap, tennis shoes, but, please, NO FLIP FLOPS.  They are a tripping hazard during the choreography .

*Our Bowling/Christmas Caroling Party for Tuesday, December 19th. Notes are coming home today!  Look in your child's backpack, please!

*After chapel on Wednesday, December 20th , the 4th graders will have their class Christmas Party—a Polar Express Party!  Your child may wear his or her pj’s and slippers to school (please pack tennis shoes), bring a pillow and a warm blanket, and be ready to have a good time!  We will have hot chocolate and candy canes ready to eat for the “hot chocolate” scene!   We are so excited to make fun memories together before leaving on break!

Here is what we have been up to:
Religion-We have been talking about David as King…and discussing what make good qualities of a leader, as well as the qualities that us as citizens should have.  We have learned that we are citizens of this beautiful place God created, and how we will one day be citizens of heaven too!  Please check out our posters in the hallway depicting what we have learned!

Language Arts- We read the story “Stormalong,” a tall-tale about a seafaring sailor.  We also worked with homophones, common and proper nouns, singular and plural nouns, and quotation marks.

Science- We completed lesson 2, where we talked about classifying living things.
Art- We worked on your Christmas gifts!  ;)
Music-We practiced our songs for the Christmas program.  We are ready!!!
P.E.-This week, we began learning basketball skills—the chest pass, the bounce pass, and the overhead pass.  We also played some PacMan!
Writing-Next week, we will begin our personal narratives.

God’s Blessings,
Kim
