Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- This week, we discussed the life of Moses,
the 10 Plagues, and how he helped lead the people out of Egypt. We talked about the gifts and talents God has
so graciously given us, and how we can use these to glorify Him. I had such a neat moment with the kiddos this
week. I recently went to a funeral for a
husband of a friend. While this of
course was very sad, and a beautiful service, it was also such a celebration of
life! I shared with the kids. This man was exceptionally smart. He was a microbiologist, as well as a devout
Christian. A few years ago, he published
a book of his own poetry about experiences in his life hoping to inspire others
to use "critical thought." He wrote, "I am a man of Faith; I was
born and remain a Christian…I work in the field of applied clinical
microbiology; the more I learn about science, the more miraculous it becomes…I
believe I have lived a full and well-rounded life; what remains of it, I see as
gravy."
I used him as an example of someone who used his talent, his
exceptional mind, to glorify God. This
led to such great conversation! I am so
proud of these kiddos and how they share their faith! They are amazing!
Memory for next week:
October 16- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other
gods.
What does this mean?
We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.
October 19- THE SECOND COMMANDMENT-You shall not misuse the
name of the Lord your God.

home on his or her facts—flash cards are the best!
Social Studies- We will read Scholastic News, with a
story about the firefighters in California.
Science –This week, we worked as scientists, and try
to solve a “real-world” problem together.
Problem: Build a bridge of a certain distance, out of set amount of
materials, to hold a plastic cup of 20 pennies.
I witnessed amazing teamwork, great conversation, and much success!
