Hello, Parents! I
hope you have had a great week…and have stayed warm! :)
Upcoming Events:
*Book Reports are due next Thursday. These are the mystery book reports, and the
project is the movie poster.
*The Science Fair is in two weeks from today! Please make sure your child is working on
their project at home.
*Track season is just around the corner! I am the track coach here at Timothy, and it
begins in 4th grade. I will
be sending out a note soon about specifics, but I just wanted to put the “bug
in your ear!” Practice begins March 19th
(weather permitting!!!)
What we have been
learning:
Religion-This week, we reviewed the story of Daniel
and the Lions’ Den and have also discussed the early prophets that foretold
Jesus’ coming.
Memory for next week-
February 26-was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God
the Father Almighty.
March 1-From thence He will come to judge the living and the
dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Reading- This week, we read the story The World
According to Humphrey. We really
enjoyed this story as we talked about the power of unplugging!
Spelling Words for Friday, March 1st: (from Owen
and Mzee) hundred, supply, single, middle, explain, surprise, pilgrim,
sandwich, instead, complete, monster, settle, address, farther, sample,
although, turtle, athlete, orchard, kingdom, fortress, instant, *companion
Math-We are still
working on that long division with remainders! We will work on adding more digits next
week. Please work with your child at
home, if you notice he or she is struggling… Thank you! A lot of the struggles and frustrations are
coming from not having facts memorized.
Science-We began Chapter 2 in our Science books this
week. We are learning all about
invertebrates and vertebrates. Mrs.
Stack visited today and met with the students to make sure they are where they
needed to be with their goals and their science experiments. She gave them some advice:
When writing procedures:
Make sure you have a plan, but write down the procedures after you do
them. Be sure to include accurate
measurements.
When writing your conclusion: Ask yourself —Do your results support your hypothesis? Be sure to explain this in detail.
Don’t forget to check out this website for details: http://timothylutheransciencefair.jmstack.com
Art/Writing-We created crosses for the Lenten dinner
that we are hosting on March 20th.
We also created birthday cards and letters for Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Herkamp.
P.E.-This week, we played a fun valentine tag game
and yesterday, we did some “heart healthy” activities including, jumping rope,
crunches, and sprints.
Music-We are working on our songs for our upcoming
musical, “Go, Go, Jonah!”
God’s Blessings,
Kim
P.S. Happy Birthday to Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Herkamp today!!! You are blessings to ALL of us!
I received this beautiful card from the kiddos last week! So blessed and thankful...
