Happy Spring!

Hello, Parents!  First of all, I have to tell you, THANK YOU for sharing your treasure with me.  Your child and I had the most beautiful discussion about faith this morning during Religion class. Every student contributed their thoughts about witnessing to others and sharing the love of Jesus.  I truly pray that we can all have that child-like faith…it is truly a beautiful thing!  I feel blessed to get to witness it every day!   Then, it was as if that faith was tested at recess today… and we had just discussed how Satan truly tries his hardest to tempt those that love God.  There was some anger and frustration with each other, but we were able to resolve that with some time, and lots of love and forgiveness and healing.  God is amazing and His ways are beautiful.  God is good ALL the time and ALL the time, God is good!

We have had a fun and busy week!  We had fun watching “Lion King” as a whole-school this week and were able to get our tie-dying accomplished today!  :)

Here is what we have been up to:
Religion-We have been learning about Jesus and His ministry here on earth.  We tested over this material on Thursday.  Next week, we will be talking about Lent.
Memory for next week:
April 2-Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
You will find a solace there.

April 5-The 23rd Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.

Reading-We read the story Antarctica Journal, and we learned all about the author’s adventures with penguins and ice!  Next week, we will read Ecology for Kids, which will connect to what we are learning about in Science! We share our March book reports today.  Our windsocks are beautiful!  We will get the information about our last book reports on Monday!  We will be studying famous Missourians!

Spelling words for next Friday, April 5th-(from “Ecology for Kids”)
tiniest, hobbies, copied, countries, pitied, easier, laziest, families, spied, happiest, ladies, friendlier, studied, busier, breezier, prettiest, noisier, healthier, butterflies, funniest, heaviest, categories, *ecology

Math- This week, we began learning about nonnumeric and numeric patterns.

Science-We finished up our unit about plants, animals, and their life cycles.  We will review this early next week.  Our test will be next Friday, April 5th.  We will be playing a version of Science Jeopardy that I will also send home for your child to study!  After next week, we will be focusing on Missouri History and our famous Missourian study.

Art- This week, we studied the art work of Norman Rockwell and Mary Englebreit.  From there, we each thought of our very favorite memory, and painted a version of it!  We will finish these up next week!

Writing-We have been working on our “mom” research projects!

P.E.-This week, we continued our physical fitness testing with the ½ mile run.

Music-We practiced the spring musical in the gym with the entire school this week.
