Hello, Parents!
*Mid-terms and standardized testing results are coming home
today! They will be in two separate
sealed envelopes. The students know that
they are not supposed to look at their test results without your permission.
*I reiterated again this week about SLOWING DOWN and
CHECKING work. I have reminded the
kiddos that they can redo some of those “not-so-great” papers and turn them in
for ½ credit. Some of them really need
to take advantage of this to help their understanding of the concepts and to help their grades.
*Our 4th quarter mission project is complete! We have collected more than 500 items…SO….all
of us teachers and Mr. Holland are getting SOAKED on Fun Day! Thank you for your help with this!
*We will not have school tomorrow (Good Friday), and
Monday.
*We were able to hear two 8th graders share their
faith stories this week during Chapel—Aden Becker and Christian Anderson. Both of these young men did an amazing job,
and I loved it that all the younger students were able to witness their
testimonies as well. We will hear two of
the 8th graders every week at Chapel.
*We were also able to celebrate Mr. Mundt as he ran the
Boston Marathon Monday morning! We were
so proud that he qualified, and the entire Mundt family took a trip to Boston
to cheer him on in person. Mrs. Mundt
had shared the app with us that helped us track Mr. Mundt and how he was doing
the entire race! We were able to send
him a short video of us “hooraying” his finish!
We are so very proud of our fellow Ram!
Praise God!
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion- We studied Holy Week this week—Palm Sunday,
Jesus in the Temple, The Last Supper, and Good Friday. We will talk about Easter next week! He is
Risen! He is Risen Indeed, Alleluia! We watched a video today set to the beautiful
song , “Watch the Lamb,” by Ray Boltz.
The kids and I were very moved by this, and we had a wonderful
discussion about the meaning of Lamb in the song. They wanted me to share the link with you so
you can watch it and discuss it at home as well:
Memory for next week:
April 23-
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the
world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ~John 3:17
April 26-If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the
things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
~Colossians 3:1
Reading-This week we continued with Chapter 3 from “Childhood of Famous Americans: Harry S. Truman: The Thirty-Third President
of the United States.” We will continue
this study for the next few weeks.
Spelling words for next Friday, April 26th-(from
“Childhood of Famous Americans: Harry S.
Truman: The Thirty-Third President of the United States”)
although, magazine, introduce, predicted, tremendous,
stomach, disease, probably, gradually, difficult, *diphtheria
Math- This week, we talked about factors and
multiples, finding all of the factor pairs of a number. We will review this skill and will begin
learning about fractions next week!
Missouri History- This week, we have read about the
Native Americans that lived in Missouri and about the traditions, clothing, and
lifestyles of the Osage. It was so
interesting! Next week, we will be
learning about the Europeans that first came to Missouri and a bit about Louis
and Clark.
P.E.-We did conditioning and learned how to do the
long jump.
Music- We watched the video to our musical and
practiced some new songs…
Art-We studied the life and art of Georgia O’Keefe,
by reading a short biography and studying some of her art work. We focused on her famous flower
paintings. We then picked out a
photograph of some of our favorite flowers and are water-coloring and using oil
pastels to recreate them on paper. They
are turning out quite lovely! Aren't they beautiful?! Happy
Spring!
