Hello, Parents! We
will see you tonight for the musical—“Go, Go Jonah!” Students needs to be in their classrooms at
6:00, dressed and ready to go! The band
performs at 6:30. See you then! We could use some help putting away some staging after the
performance tonight. If you’re able to
stick around and lend us your muscles, we would appreciate it!
*I talked to the students today about SLOWING DOWN and
CHECKING work. It seems we have spring
fever in here! ;) Some of the kiddos have really been rushing
and just handing work in and calling it completed! I have told them that they can redo this
work for ½ credit. Some of them really need to take advantage of this to
help their understanding of the concepts and to help their grades. Please
urge them to do so!
*Our 4th quarter mission project is underway! We have one more week for a “Flash Flood of
Giving!” We are going to collect
cleaning supplies for those affected by the flooding in Nebraska and Iowa. For
every 70 items collected, one teacher will join in the squirt gun battle on Fun
Day (May 10th ). So far, one teacher is getting soaked!!! If we collect 500 items – Mr. Holland will
join in the soaking!
Here are things you can donate:
Paper towels
Work gloves
Sponges
Laundry detergent
Dryer Sheets
Bleach
Laundry Baskets
Buckets
Vinegar/Ammonia
Garbage bags (this is a BIG need!)
Dish Soap
Etc.
THANK YOU!
*Next week, we will begin celebrating Holy Week. For Maundy Thursday, we will dismiss at
1:00. We will not have school on Good
Friday or Easter Monday.
Here is what we have been up to:
Religion- This week, we have been studying, “The Parable
of the Rich Fool.” We also began
learning about Holy Week—studying Palm Sunday today, which will be celebrated
on Sunday at church! Next week, we will
study the Passover meal and Good Friday.
Memory for next week: (We are studying the 23rd
Psalm)
April 16-
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my
life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
April 23-
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the
world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. ~John 3:17
Reading-This week we began reading chapters 1-2 of “Childhood
of Famous Americans: Harry S. Truman:
The Thirty-Third President of the United States.” The kiddos love this book! We will continue this study for the next few
weeks.
Spelling words for next Thursday, April 18th-(from
“Childhood of Famous Americans: Harry S.
Truman: The Thirty-Third President of the United States”)
unfortunately, breakfast, handkerchief, cautiously, prayer,
caress, doctor, notice, anxious, pamper, *incredulously
Math- This week, we learned the order of operations
(Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally!) We
also worked with multi-step problem solving and solving for the variable=
ALGEBRA! I am so proud of how hard all
of these kiddos are working! We also have
been busy taking mad minutes! We will be
taking our “Multiplication Masterpiece Test” for the next several weeks
too—this is 100 problems, and 4 minutes to complete it! I know they can! We have had two young ladies pass already!
Science-We took our Chapter 2 science test this week
and ALL of the students did SO WELL!
Yay!
Missouri History-Each student received his or her
famous Missourian to study. They will read
this book at home, or during free time at school, (please remind your child to
store the book in his or her backpack), and take notes on important facts. The book report form will be filled in at home,
but the project, the biography rug, will all be completed here at school during
Art time and Writing time. We will
display these for our Famous Missourian Living Museum on May 15th. Reports and projects are due May 13th. I will give more details about this as the time
approaches. We will begin the next
chapter in our Missouri history books next week, as we continue to learn more
about Harry Truman and our own famous Missourians.
P.E.-This week, we continued our physical fitness
activities!
Music-We practiced, practice, practice the spring
musical in the gym with the entire school several times this week. We are READY!
