A short, but sweet 3rd/4th grade newsletter...

Hello!  We have had short week this week, but I thought I would let you know about some upcoming events, as well as let you know what we have been up to in our classroom!

*THANK YOU to our dads and special people who were able to come today for “Donuts with Dad.” We had a great time!

*THANK YOU so very much for the surprise birthday party on Monday!  The balloons, the desserts, the cards, the gifts, the sweet, AMAZING kids…It was beautiful and perfect, and I truly was surprised, spoiled, and blessed!

*We do not have school tomorrow and Friday, October 10th and 11th, because teachers will be away at a conference (LEA) in St. Louis.  We leave tomorrow morning.  :)  Please pray for our safe travel.  Thank you!
*We will have our School of Economics field trip next Wednesday, October 16th.  We have enough people that are going to training and helping that day, but we do need some more drivers—people that can drop us off.  Please check out the sign-up genius for more details.  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0c4dadab2da7f58-school
There is a $5.00 charge for all students.  Please send this to school.  Thank you!

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- We discussed Moses and Miriam’s song that they sung as the exited Egypt.  This led us into a great discussion about praise and how we worship our Heavenly Father who has done SO many great things for us!  Next week, we will talked about Mt. Sinai and the 10 Commandments.

Next week’s Memory:
10/15-Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fear relieved; How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed.
10/18-When we've been there 10,000 years, bright shining as the sun; we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we've first begun.

Language Arts- We learned about nouns this week, both proper and common.  We also went on a “hunt” for nouns, verbs, and adjectives in our reading texts.  This week, 4th graders performed their skit from, “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing,” for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders.  They did a FANTASTIC job!

Spelling Words for Friday, October 18th:
3rd- from the reading selection, “Max’s Words”- math, toast, easy, socks, Friday, stuff, paid, cheese, June, elbow, program, shiny, piles, sticky, comb, holiday, *stupendous
4th-- from the reading selection, "Stormalong" (more homophones)
wait, weight, heard, herd, days, daze, heel, heal, peak, peek, sent, cent, scent, feet, feat, vain, vane, vein, miner, minor, principal, principle, *stupendous

Math- Both grades worked on problem solving and completed their chapter reviews.  We will test next week.

School of Economics-This week, we met with shops and priced our items in hope to pay off our loans.  We finished passports and worked on signs.  Next week, we will continue to work hard to make sure we are ready!

SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We went on a nature hike around our property and recorded different colors, shapes, and textures as we traveled.  We also picked up fallen leaves and used them to make beautiful leaf rubbings.  :)

P.E.- We played Dr. Dodgeball—a favorite!

Have a wonderful LONG weekend!
Blessings,
Kim
