*We will have our Fall Party here at school on
October 31st, in the afternoon, so our home school friends can participate. Instead of Writers Workshop and Computers
that day, we will have a scavenger hunt, some games, and some snacks! Can you help with snacks, please? If so, please use the sign-up! Thank you so much!
*We have earned a STAR party for good behavior, and the
kiddos have voted to extend our Fall Party just a bit and have makeshift tents
(sheets) put up in our classroom and then play our electronics and/or board
games beneath them. They are SO
creative! I’ve never thought of doing
this before! :) They are welcome to bring their electronics
to school on Thursday. I am so proud of
them!

*The annual Timothy Lutheran School Ministries Auction/Gala

class project! More details coming soon!
Here is what else we have been up to this week:
Religion- We discussed the story of the people of
Israel receiving the 10 Commandments and entering the Promised Land. We had a great discussion about the “fiery
serpents” in our lives and the things that tempt us. We also talked about the meaning of, “Give us
this day our daily bread.” God has
blessed us with so much! We are working
on being content with the many gifts of God.
Next week, we will learn about Martin Luther and the Reformation.
Next week’s Memory:
10/29-
Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.
11/1- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other gods.
What does this mean?
We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.
Language Arts- 3rd graders read the story,
“What Do Illustrators Do?” We learned so
much about the decisions illustrators and authors make. It was very interesting! 4th graders read the nonfiction
story, “The Screech Owl Who Loved Television.”
This book led us to many great conversations about taking care of
wildlife, and what animas make good pets.
This week, we also practiced writing friendly letters, and wrote one to
you to share at conferences. We also had
a lesson on the correct ways to use quotations during conversations, and will
practice this in the upcoming weeks. As
a class, next week, we will read the true story of Martin Luther.
Spelling Words for Friday, November 1st:
(both 3rd/4th grades)
Martin Luther, afraid, church, knight, monk, trust, choir,
shield, scare, forgiveness, *Reformation
Math- 3rd graders worked with rounding and
adding longer addition this week. They
also worked with mental math and some problem solving. 4th graders tested over Chapter 2,
and have begun the next chapter relating multiplication and division and
multiplication and subtraction. Keep
practicing those math facts at home!
Science- We began Science this week! Woohoo!
We have learned all about the Scientific Method, and learned what
scientist do. We know now that we are
all scientists in here, sharing or discoveries and learning together! We are excited!
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- Preparing for our Veterans’ Day celebration, we
painted beautiful American flags, and then cut our patriotic words to adorn
them. We will display these at the
