Hello! We have had a wonderful
week!
On Monday, we had a “see you later” party for our Noah! It was beautiful as we prayed over him, sang
to him, and then gave him a HUGE group hug…the Spirit was alive in our
classroom! We also had tasty treats! Thank you to our parents who so generously
sent in yummy things to eat!
We had many prayers like this one on our Prayer Tree this week...
Noah loves sharks!
Yum!
Our HUGE group hug! (Yes, Noah was alright!)
*We are beginning a PTL (Parent Teacher League) very
soon! Information about it is attached. If
you think you would enjoy being an officer, please make sure you let us know! Please take a look! There is a kick-off December 3, at the RD Mize site at 5:30.
*THANK YOU for supporting our auction last Saturday! A fun time was had by all! All in all, we raised over $27,000. WOW!
Thank you!
*On Wednesday, we had our OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD packing
party! Thank you for all of your
generous donations! It was so very
delightful to see the Chapel Families working together to build these boxes,
and then praying over them for each child that will receive it. The comradery and teamwork that I witnessed
was AMAZING and just reiterated to me what we are all about—serving Jesus! It was an incredible afternoon! As a school, we packed over 130 boxes! Praise God!
*Next Tuesday, November 26th, at 11:00, the 3rd/4th graders
will have their classroom Thanksgiving Feast in lieu of lunch. We will be
studying the first Thanksgiving all next week, and all about the Pilgrims and
Wampanoag Indians. We will also be talking about all the things we, as
Christian Americans, should be thankful for! What a wonderful way to praise our
Father for all He has given! I will supply the turkey, plates, napkins, cups,
and plastic-ware. If you are able to help with any of the things below, please
let me know. Thanks so much for your help! God bless!

*This is soon! As a tradition, the 3rd/4th
grade classes do not buy gifts for one another. Instead, we try to purchase gifts for some children who many not be netting any other gifts this Christmas. My students love this, and it is so fun
picking out presents, and sharing God’s love!
This year, I have chosen two kiddos from our “Angel Trees” at church. The gifts have to be ready to go by December 7th,
which really does not give us much time!
If your child or you would like to contribute money, I will take the
kids “shopping” on Amazon, and we will pick out some gifts together next
week. :)
Our gifts will be for a 7 year old girl and a newborn
boy. THANK YOU!
Here is what we have been up to in the classroom:
Religion- This week, we discussed the lives of Samuel
and Saul, and how God called them to serve Him in different capacities. We discussed how we are also called to serve,
and we shared the many ways we can do this, even as children! We also talked about repentance, forgiveness
and the power of prayer. We had some beautiful
discussions about all of that in here! I
just adore your kiddos…
We had some issues in the classroom earlier this week that I
would like to share with you…just so you can have a conversation at home as
well. We had been struggling with some
gossip and with some name-calling, and just really letting sin and Satan take
over! So, I talked to the entire class
as a whole, and what transpired really floored me…and it was just one of those
moments that I was very proud to be teaching where I am. The Holy Spirit really guided us through this! We talked about the negative power of gossip,
and how it hurts and it grows, and how it is Satan at work. We discussed playing fairly, about distancing
yourself when you feel anger, about using our classroom DeBugging System—it
really does work! Then, there was a huge
confession of sins on so many kiddos’ parts, there were some tears asking for
forgiveness, there WAS forgiveness, and hugs, and words of affirmation. Then it was suggested that we have a huge
group prayer, and all of the kiddos spoke about stomping out the devil, and
forgiving one another, and ignoring the drama and gossip, and mostly, thanking
God for His forgiveness. You have raised
amazing kids, and I am humbled to be able to work with them every day.
Next week’s Memory:
11/26-but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish
them.
Language Arts/Social Studies- This week, we learned
all about the Pilgrims and the Wampanoags, by reading several books and
completing some fun activities. We also
read “Across the Wide, Dark Sea” as a whole class. We searched our stories for
nouns (both proper and common), verbs, and adjectives. We will finish up this unit next week. We will not have spelling words or a new
reading selection this week!
Math- This week, third graders continued working with
arrays and multiplication. We have
worked with fact families and commutative property. Fourth graders began multiplying two-digit
numbers and regrouping using the distributive property.
Science-This week, we talked about the parts of a
plant and experimented with celery and food dye to see how food travels through
a plant. We also began creating our
posters of cells.
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- We finished up our eastern bluebird art work pictures
(Missouri’s state bird). They are hanging
in the hallway—and I am so impressed with them! We have some very talented artists in here!
This week, we also created some Wamapanoag art, using Native American symbols and paper bags and markers to create art work on “animal hides.”

P.E.- We played tag games this week—Hook On Tag and Man on
Mars.
