Here is what we have been learning about this week:
Religion- This week, we talked about the beginning of
Lent and Ash Wednesday. In Religion
class, we have been learning about John the Baptist and when Jesus was tempted
by Satan. We talked about temptations,
and how the Holy Spirit helps us to overcome these temptations. This led us into a wonderful discussion about
repentance, forgiveness, mercy, and grace!
It is such a blessing to me to be able to talk about these wonderful
gifts every day with my students. :)
Memory for next week-
3/3-From thence He will come to judge the living and the
dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Christian Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
3/6-Recite the entire Apostle’s Creed.
Language Arts- This week, both groups read about
Native Americans. Third graders read a
Cherokee Legend called “Yonder Mountain.”
The illustrations were amazing!
Fourth graders read the true story of “Sacajawea.” This fit right in with what we are discussing
in Missouri History. We learned about
Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery.
Third graders participated in hearing and reading this story as well. We also worked with contractions, and found
sentences fragments.
Spelling Words for next Friday, March 6th:
(This is a whole-class story and spelling words)
From “Invisible Stanley:”
blizzard, invisible, cheerful, lightning, glimpse, peculiar, enormous, reporter, genie, newspaper, *ventriloquist
blizzard, invisible, cheerful, lightning, glimpse, peculiar, enormous, reporter, genie, newspaper, *ventriloquist
Math- Third graders worked on multiplying
by 6 and 7. Fourth graders are working on patterns, sequencing, and find the
rule. As a whole class, we worked on in
input and output tables. We also played
Connect 4 Math!
Science- Next Friday, March 6th, Mrs. Stack will be
coming to visit us and talk about the upcoming Science Fair on May 1st. Be on the lookout for information!
Social
Studies-In Current
Events, we discussed women’s suffrage, and talked about the right to vote. We debated whether it should be a law that
all people vote. It was very interesting
to hear the kids’ opinions. In Missouri
History, we discussed the globe and how it is divided. We then discussed our continent, country,
state, and county in which we live. We
are going to learn about the 5 different regions in Missouri.
Art- We read learned about the line of symmetry and
complementary colors. We then created
beautiful construction papers masterpieces using these skills! Check them out in the hallway!
Writing-We are busy working on persuasive essays,
working our way through the writing processes.
P.E.- This week, we worked on soccer skills—dribbling,
passing with a partner, and shooting goals.
