Last week, we read Flat Stanley by our Author of the Month, Jeff Brown. As a culminating activity, each child has created a flat person of their own and has written a friendly letter to a person of his or her choice. Writing letters and mailing them is a dying art, I realize, but it is important for the students to learn this skill! Plus, receiving something in the mail is so exciting! :)
They are going to send their flat person and the letter to someone who will then wander around with the flat friend for a few days. After this, the person will write your child back about their adventures. They may also include pictures, postcards, etc. I have told the children to try to choose a person that will cooperate and have fun responding back! Even if it is just a family member in Kansas City, it will do! Please help them make this decision.
Please read the letter your child has written, help them write the address on the envelope, place a stamp on it, and mail it! Thank you! We are going to map out how far our flat people have traveled and we will be sharing their adventures with the class and the school! Thank you for your help! This is coming home today!
God's Blessings,
Kim
