It was wonderful to see you...

Happy Friday, 3rd and 4th grade parents!  It has been a pleasure meeting with each of you these last two days.  We are all so blessed to be a part of this Timothy family…

Here is what we have learned this week:

Religion- Along with our lessons, we have had some great discussions this week about being honest, not spreading gossip, and lifting one another up in love.  It was refreshing to hear the kiddos share personal experiences with these things, and even share some of their own transgressions and ask for forgiveness…  These are the times that God makes it clear to me that He is here with us and showing us the way to Him.  The verse we focused on was 1 Peter 4:8:  “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

Next week, we will be discussing the events of Holy Week.

 Memory for next week:

3/30-Fair is the sunshine,

Fair is the moonlight,

Bright the sparkling stars on high;

Jesus shines brighter,

Jesus shines purer,

Than all the angels in the sky.

Here is a great YouTube version of this hymn, if you’d like to practice that way:  https://youtu.be/kSkLFZn8RGg

Language Arts- Both groups read and learned about trees this week, so it connected well with what we are learning in Science as well!  3rd graders read, “A Tree is Growing,”  and 4th graders read “The Ever-Living Tree.”  We discussed adverbs this week and learned cursive capital Z.   Next week, we will have a whole-class literature study of Roald Dahl’s book, “Esio Trot.”  We will only have 10 spelling words and a challenge word.

Spelling words for Thursday, April 1st—from the book, “Esio Trot,” by Roald Dahl (both grades)—envy, basking, halt, embrace, jutted, reckon, slice, gazing, enlarge, gentle, *bewildered

Math- Third graders have been working with multiplying and dividing by 11 and 12, and working with multi-step word problems.  Fourth graders worked with input/output charts, order of operations, and using variables.

*In the afternoons this week, we were preparing for our conferences, so we did not accomplish much for Science and Social Studies, but we will dive head first back into them next week!

 Specials-

Art- We created coffee filter butterflies and painted flowers in the style of Georgia O’Keefe.  These are decorating our classroom for Spring!

P.E.-We competed in an obstacle course in the gym—somersaulting, hopscotching, jump roping, weaving, and sprinting!

Music-We are practicing songs for the Spring Musical, and the kiddos sound wonderful!

Have a blessed weekend,

Kim

We celebrated another birthday this week!
