Happy Reformation Weekend!

 Dear 4th Grade Parents,

Happy Reformation Weekend!

Hello!  We just talked today how this week has seemed SO long!  I am not sure what it is…maybe the anticipation for report cards coming home today, or the rainy days, or perhaps Reformation/Halloween on Sunday?!  Anyway, it has been a great week!

 Important things to note:

*Report cards come home today!  Please make sure to check your child’s Homework Folder for that sealed envelope.  Thank you!  These do not need to be signed, but please let me know if you have any questions.

*THANK YOU for all volunteers for last weekend’s 7th/8th grade volleyball tournament.  We are so blessed here at Timothy to have these amazing volunteers.  Everything ran smoothly, and our amazing girls stole the show!  We are so thankful to Him for our many talents and blessings!  This weekend, they head to the State Tournament in Jefferson City, so please keep them in your prayers!  GO RAMS!

*We had our Fall Party this afternoon!  Thank you, parents, for all the yummy treats and the time you spent spoiling us!  We had fun playing Apples to Apples, Would You Rather, and Charades!

*4th graders host Chapel next Wednesday, November 3rd.  (9:00 am)  Please feel free to come and worship with us!

*On November 11th, we will have a Veteran’s Day celebration that will be open to the public. We invite all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, and anyone to join us!   If you have a veteran or active service member in your family, we encourage you to submit their picture, dates served, and branch, to Mrs. Romo as part of our program. Her email is kromo@timothylutheran.com. Thank you!

*Remember – NO SCHOOL the week of Thanksgiving, November 22 - 26. The teachers have a conference out of town the first 2 days of the week. The rest of the week is Thanksgiving break. There will be NO CHILDCARE.

Here is what we have been up to this week:

Religion/Language Arts- We learned all about Martin Luther and the Reformation this week!  We read several stories about martin, watched a few videos, dug into God’s Word, and analyzed parts of his life.  We also learned the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress,” penned by Martin Luther himself.  We are so thankful for the blessing he as to our faith, yet we know he too, was a great sinner.  We discussed ways we can stand up for our faith too—not recant---and share the love of Jesus everywhere we go!  We discussed nouns, verbs, adjectives this week, as well as character analysis.

4th Graders shared their animal book report's this week!  (Be on the lookout for November forms to come home!)

 Memory for Next Week:

11/2-Say the entire Morning Prayer.

11/5- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

Spelling Words for Friday, November 5th:

4th-from “Jose! Born to Dance” – learn, dirty, worn, sore, thirst, burn, record, cure, board, course, worth, early, return, pure, world, search, worse, thirteen, sport, current, curious, thorough

Challenge Word: embarrassed

Math- We are learning long multiplication, beginning with two-digit by one-digit.  We learned what this actually means with Base 10 blocks, and now are solving them with our memorized facts!  Please keep working on those facts at home!  I am so proud of these kiddos and far they have come in math already this school year.

Social Studies/Science- We took our test over the regions of the United States this week.  These will be graded over the weekend and come home next week.  Then, we will begin our first unit in Science, over

 SPECIAL CLASSES

Art-We created beautiful Luther Seals, made from different forms of media from home and school.  (Please be sure to stop by our blog to see pictures!) We discussed what the colors mean—the black cross represents our sin, the red heart represents the blood of Jesus and His love for us, the white rose represents angel and the heavenly realms, the blue background for heaven, and the gold ring for God’s love being eternal.   They are beautiful!

Music- The students are practicing songs for the Veteran’s Day program in November.  4th graders are playing the chimes, and they sound AMAZING!

Computer Lab- We worked on www.typing.com.  Many of us are advancing quickly!

P.E.- We played parachute games this week!  (i.e. Washing Machine and Popcorn)

Writing- We focused on creative writing and wrote some spooky or funny stories.  The “story starters” we used were so much fun!

Have a blessed weekend,

Kim Brunkhorst
