Dear 4th Grade Parents,
Hello! This has been a speedy week---goodness! THANK YOU so much for the beautiful birthday
wishes and gifts. I felt spoiled and
special all day long. It is such a
treasure to teach here and be amongst your kiddos every day! Thank you!
*It has been wonderful visiting with each of you at our
conferences! Thank you for taking the
time to come and visit about your child.
*Every year, the Optimist Club of Blue Springs gives all 4th
graders in the district (public and private) a dictionary as their very
own! We received ours this week!
*We had SUCH a great turn-out with our Donuts with Dad! It made my heart swell to see so many loved ones
here! Thank you for coming and having a treat
and playing some games with us! I tried
to get a picture of everyone, but I missed some of you…I am so sorry! Please make sure you look on our blog to see
the photos I did take!

We are privileged to be hosting the KCLAL (Kansas City
Lutheran Athletic League) 7th/8th grade volleyball tournament here at Timothy
on October 23rd, and we need volunteers to help out!
If you are able, please consider signing up for a time below
to work one of the following:
~Concession Stand
~Admissions
~Line Judging
~Donating to the Hospitality Room (for Coaches, ADs, and
Principals of participating schools)
We have boasted about having the best "hospitality
room" in the league, and would love your help in keeping that going! This
will be a room for coaches, referees, principals, and athletic directors from
our school, as well as from opposing schools, to come and relax, eat, and visit
with others in between games. If you are able to do so, please sign-up to send
something in for this event. We will need the items by Friday, October 22nd.
Please label your dish, or send something disposable. We are need of
lunch/dinner items, snacks, desserts, and drinks. Thank you so much!
It takes all of us, as a team, to ensure that this
tournament runs smoothly and is loads of fun for everyone...so I thank
you! May we give God the glory!!!

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion- This week in Religion, we discussed the
life of Moses, the 10 Plagues, Passover, and the Exodus. We talked about God’s plan for each of us,
and how we can use ANY of our talents to praise Him now and in the future.
Memory for Next Week:
10/12-Recite all of the New Testament Books
10/15- A mighty fortress is our God,
A trusty shield and weapon;
He helps us free from ev'ry need
That has us now o'ertaken.
Language Arts- This week we read the story Coming
Distractions: Questioning Movies. We
learned lot of new “movie-making” vocabulary terms, and how we should often analyze
the movies we see to check for content and how truthful the images are. We had soe great discussions about many of
the movies that we have seen, and how music and lighting make you feel a
certain way, and how often the fight or chase scenes don’t show what is happening
all around them. It was interesting! This week, we also practiced writing a
summary, and finding facts and opinions.
Spelling Words for Friday, October 15th
Story: “Me and Uncle Romie”
aloud, bald, hawk, south, faucet, proud, claw, tower, stalk,
couple, howl, false, dawn, allow, drown, pause, fault, cause, amount, cloudier,
applaud, foul
Challenge Word: mesmerize
Math- This week, we tested over Chapter 2, and began
Chapter 3, which is multiplication! This
week, we have been learning how multiplying relates to addition and subtraction,
as well as reviewing fact families. The class
claimed this was “easy-peasy!” ;) Next week, it will get a bit tougher as we
work with word problems, properties and rules, and factors and multiples. Please keep practicing those math facts! We are onto the 6’s in class! They CAN do this!!!
SPECIAL CLASSES
Art- This week, we played “Catch-Up” in art and finished
up our BioPoems, our Expressionistic art, our line art, and had fun drawing
cartoons with some fun “how-to” books.
Music- The students are practicing songs for the
Veteran’s Day program in November.
Computer Lab- We worked on www.typing.com and really are learning how to use
those home keys and are increasing our speed and accuracy.
P.E.- Soccer-We worked on dribbling and kicking to
targets, as well as ball control.
Have a blessed weekend,
Kim
