Hello, 4th grade parents! I missed your kiddos after our Thanksgiving Break, and was very happy to see their smiling faces on Monday. :)

Here is what we have been up to this week:
Religion-
We discussed the story of David and Goliath by putting on a
skit in class. Layla and Attley made
pretty impressionable Goliaths! ;) We
then discussed the “Goliaths” in our own lives, and how we should always call
upon the Lord to help us. We shared ways
we can stand up for the Lord when people around us are attacking God and/or His
name. Our classroom is now decorated for
Advent/Christmas, and each morning, students hunt for our missing wisemen, who,
when found, deliver a special message about from God’s Word about Christ’s
birth to us. Ask you kiddo about this! ;)
Memory next week:
12/7-THE FIFTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not murder. What does this mean? We should fear
and love God so that we do not hurt or harm our neighbor in his body, but help
and support him in every physical need.
12/10-THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT
You shall not commit adultery. What does this mean? We
should fear and love God so that we lead a sexually pure and decent life in
what we say and do, and husband and wife love and honor each other.
Language Arts-
We read the nonfiction story, “The Screech Owl Who Loved
Television.” This book led us to many
great conversations about taking care of wildlife, and what animas make good
pets. We also had a lesson on the
correct ways to use quotations during conversations, and will practice this in
the upcoming weeks. We worked with
proper nouns, and facts/opinions as well.
Students shared their fantasy book reports and their awesomely creative
comic strips! Information about
January’s book report over a historical fiction novel came home on
Wednesday. I am reading “The Indian in
the Cupboard” by Lynn Reid Bands to the kiddos during DEAR time, and they LOVE
it! It is quite an entertaining
book!
Spelling Words next week, December 10th: from the story entitled, The Earth Dragon Awakens- rising, traced, stripped, slammed, dancing, striped, winning, snapping, bragging, handled, dripped, begged, dared, skipped, hitting, spotted, raced, dimmed, spinning, escaped, urged, striving, *centenarian
Math-
Students learned how to multiply two-digit numbers by
two-digit numbers, and I am proud to say that ALL of them are trying hard, and have
said in some form or another, “I love math!”
Yay! We are progressing right
along! Can you tell I am proud?! We will continue working on this skill next
week, for those that are struggling.
Science-
We worked on our plant and animal cell posters. We are learning all those cell parts! Next week, we will classify plants and
animals.
Social Studies-
In current events, we discussed the history of emojis and
how we use them so often now. We also
learned about Thomas Edison and had a debate about homework. ;)

scenes that look like stained glass.
