Enjoy your weekend... :)

Hello, parents!  It was so wonderful to see so many mamas/aunts/grandmas/loved ones on Wednesday!  Thank you for coming!  We are blessed with this village we have here at Timothy.  :)

  • FIELD TRIP:  We are headed to the School of Economics on Monday, April 4th!  We will start preparing for our trip in class on Monday.  We will be meeting with the 5th and 6th graders twice a week,  learning skills such as making a budget, buying supplies, understanding supply/demand, writing checks, selling goods, working cooperatively, HAVING A TON OF FUN, and much more!  It takes a lot of work in class to make this special day flow, and we are ready!  We are attending the School of Economics with St. Thomas Moore, a Catholic school in Kansas City, and are excited to meet some new friends!

We will need some of you to help that day!  We will need exactly EIGHT volunteers for this trip. Parent help is needed ALL DAY, but space is limited, so slots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. They don’t let any other parents in the building that day, except these EIGHT volunteers for our school.  Thank you so much for your help!! These parents will have training at the School of Economics at 8:45.  We will meet them there, which also means we need some parents that will only be able to drive us there and drop us off.  We will need to leave school no later than 9:10.

 Other important information is below:

-The cost for you for this field trip is $5. A generous donor is covering the other $10 per student.  ($15 total) We are so THANKFUL!  Please send this $5 to school.

-Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as this fee includes food for them. **If your child has food allergies and would rather bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred - please speak with your child's teacher.   (Volunteers do NOT need to pay the fee, but your lunch is included, too.)

-Our day ends there at 1:30, so we should return to school about 2:00.

-If you want to help, but all the spots are taken, please contact your child's teacher, and we'll put you on a "will-call" list in the case that another parent has to back out. Thank you in advance for your help!!  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Blessings,

Mrs. Brunkhorst and Mrs. Otte

 Date: 4/4/22 (Monday)

Time: 9:00am - 1:30pm

Location: School of Economics, 200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs, MO 64015

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION- We discussed Jesus’ first miracle of changing water into wine, and we also discussed the story of Nicodemus visiting Jesus.  We talked about how much we trust Jesus, and how God’s miracles happen every day all around us!  For example, our hearts beat more than a hundred thousand times each day!  We breathe more than seventeen thousand times a day!  We are kept safe, have clothes to wear, food to eat…I could keep going and going!  GOD IS GOOD!

MEMORY for next week:

3/8-Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth! ~Psalm 46: 10

3/11-For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. ~John 3:16

LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned all about preserving our planet in a story entitled Ecology for Kids.  We were amazed at the vocabulary we already knew from our Science text!  We discussed cause and effect, learned some new vocabulary, and talked about ways we could preserve our world, even as 4th graders.  We also shared our February Mystery book reports and movie posters!

SPELLING WORDS for Friday, March 11th, from the story A Very Important Day:

horse, chore, firm, learn, dirty, curve, world, pure, board, course, heard, return, cure, score, worm, thirteen, worn, curl, shirt, search, *allegiance

MATH- We finished up our chapter on patterns and using multiple operations to solve.  We tested over this  on Wednesday.  (Grades exams will be in backpacks.)  Then, yesterday, we began in a new book on a chapter about fractions!  We also have had quite a few of the students pass their final mad minute!  Way to practice those multiplication facts!

SOCIAL STUDIES- We are head first into Missouri History.  We studied the landscape of Missouri, many things about the immigrants that settled here, and the arts, sports, and recreation of Missouri.

SPECIAL CLASSES

Art- We created “Rainbow Trees” with watercolor paints.  They are beautiful!

P.E.- We played kickball outside this week.

Music- We practiced singing some our songs for our upcoming Spring Musical.

Computer Lab-We published our written work and played Prodigy.

Writing- This week, we shared our fictional narratives in Readers’ Theatre and then we began a fun writing project that included some crazy pictures!

Health- We finished up our series about Emotional Intelligence, and what to do when we are feeling stressed, angry, or sad.

Happy Birthday, Attley!

Pastor Ryan showed the kiddos some COOL card tricks! Who else has a pastor that is also a magician extraordinaire?!

Our beautiful Rainbow Trees!

Have a wonderful weekend!
