It is an early newsletter!

Hello, 4th grade parents!  I know it may seem odd that I am sending the weekly newsletter so very early this week, but we are heading to St. Charles in the morning for my brother-in-law’s funeral, so I will not be at school the next two days.  Mrs. Becky Barnett will be subbing for me.  Thank you for understanding!

Reminders:

*As of right now, our class is at 176 items for LUMA, and our class goal is 200!  We have until Friday to bring items in!  Thank you for your help, and for helping others with our donations!

*The 100th Day of School is Friday, but we will celebrate on Monday!  The kiddos do not need to bring anything.  We will have some fun with 100 Day Centers, treats, and fun!

*EARLY ENROLLMENT begins TODAY for students at TLS!  If you enroll your kiddo this month, you get $100 off of the $200 enrollment fee, and secure a spot for your child.  I know many classes have waiting lists, so please secure spots now!  Open enrollment for new families begins March 1st.  :)

*On February 16th and 17th, we will have STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES!  We will have a 1:00 dismissal that day and begin conferences at 1:30.  Your child will be leading these and are excited to share their personal report cards and favorite work.  To sign up, please go here:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-1stquarter

*This week, we worked on our auction project!  Come and bid on it, please!

4th Grade Auction Project-

“Kids of the Kingdom!”

We are part of Chiefs kingdom, but more importantly, we are part of GOD’S Kingdom!

“My kingdom is not of this world…” ~John 18:36a

(4th grade students lovingly created arrowheads with paper, oil pastels, tempera paint, water colors, and little bit of Chiefs love and excitement!  Each of Mrs. Brunkhorst’s 20 students created at least one arrowhead.  They were assembled into this college that would look beautiful in any Chiefs fan’s home!)

*If you still are able to bring in items for our Chiefs-themed basket, please do so.  Have your child give them to Vivian, so she can bring them home.  Her mom is preparing the basket!  ;)

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION- This week, we reviewed the story of Daniel and the Lions’ Den and have also discussed the early prophets that foretold Jesus’ coming.

Upcoming MEMORY work:

2/3- Luther’s Evening Prayer : I thank You, my Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray You to forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night.

2/7- For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the wicked foe may have no power over me. Amen.

2/10- Say the entire Evening Prayer.

LANGUAGE ARTS- We reviewed the story, “The Earth Dragon Awakens.”  We discussed synonyms, sequencing a story, and will review spelling words tomorrow.  We also reviewed ALL the cursive lower and upper case letter this week, and will begin writing in cursive during our assignments.  Students shared historical fiction book reports this week.  They each had to give an oral report, pretending to be a character from their story!  They did a great job!  They received information about their February book reports-mysteries!
