Have a beautiful LONG weekend!

Deep in God's Word...

Dear 4th Grade Parents,

It has been a short, but busy week!  (Please remember that we don’t have school tomorrow and Friday, as teachers are at teacher conferences.) It was so wonderful to see so many loved ones and our dads here this morning at Donuts with Dad!

Here is a quick update on what we have been up to, and what is coming up:

RELIGION- This week in Religion, we reviewed the story of Exodus and the songs of Moses and Miriam.  We read in the book Psalm and in the book of Revelation the songs and poems that we will hear in heaven…all about the gloriousness of our AMAZING Heavenly Father and His might! Next week, we will begin learning all about Martin Luther!

MEMORY for Next Week:

10/17- A mighty fortress is our God,

A trusty shield and weapon;

He helps us free from ev'ry need

That has us now o'ertaken.

10/20-The old evil foe

Now means deadly woe;

Deep guile and great might

Are his dread arms in fight;

On earth is not his equal.

LANGUAGE ARTS- This week, we practiced the play, “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.”  We separated into two groups, depending on the parts that we wanted, and we practiced the parts, planned the scenery and the props, and worked on teamwork and cooperation.  There was a lot of learning in here!  We will put these on for our class next week!  We weren’t quite ready to do that today!

We have also been practicing following written directions and listening for directions with some fun activities this week.  Practicing on those listening skills!

SPELLING WORDS for next week:  (from “Heat Wave”)

dancing, skipped, hiking, flipped, snapping, raced, landed, pleasing, checking, dared, dimmed, rubbing, striped, wasting, traced, stripped, tanning, smelling, phoning, fainted, *cacophony

 MATH- This week in math, we finished up Chapter 3.  I am proud of these kiddos and all of their hard work solving multi-step word problems.  We will review on Monday, test on Tuesday, and move onto our chapter about multiplication and division next week! We started with 6’s mad minutes today, and some of them finished so quickly, while others really struggled.  Please keep working on math facts at home.

SOCIAL STUDIES- We learned about the Northeast region and the Southeast region, and completed some map work.  We will start memorizing those states!

SPECIAL CLASSES

ART- We added the black wash to our Fall Parade pictures.  They are stunning!

MUSIC-Students are practicing songs for the Veterans Day Program.

P.E.- We enjoyed the beautiful weather God has provided for us!

*I am behind on grading, and I am so sorry!  My hope is to use some of my down time during the next few days, to get caught up.  Thank you for your grace!

 Have a wonderful LONG weekend!  See you Monday!

 Kim
