Hi, my dear 4th grade families. I pray you all are well. I wanted to let you know that I have been
having some health complications recently and will be having a surgery tomorrow
morning. I had hoped to wait until
summer, but my doctor had other plans.
:) I will be gone for a while,
but Ms. Judy MacLean, whom the students know and love, has so graciously
offered to take my place while I recover and heal. My hope is to be back within the next several
weeks. Our sweet kiddos will be in wonderful
hands! I have plans ready to go for her,
and my daughter will be stopping by to pick up and bring me papers to keep me
up-to-date as to how the kiddos are doing and to enter grades into Sycamore.
This will happen every three days or so.
Here is Ms. MacLean’s email address, in order to keep in
touch with her:
I told my students about all of this today, and we talked
about expectations and what the next weeks will look like. Like our AMAZING God always does, He provided
me with a Religion lesson today that was just what the students and I need to
hear. We talked about prayer, the power
of prayer, and how to request things in prayer.
To teach the students, we wrote a prayer from me to God, asking Him to guide
the doctors and if it was His will, to heal me quickly. It was a beautiful moment that I know I will
never forget.
Pastor Ryan came and prayed with us and over me. It was SUCH a blessing, and one more reminder why we are all here together in this place right now. I am so thankful for God’s healing grace and His promise to always be with us. Thank you for your prayers and for your love. I will miss the kiddos very much, and will be eager to get well and get back to what I love best.

Here is what we have been up to:
RELIGION: We are
learning all about Jesus clearing the temple, and what righteous anger is. We had some very enlightening classroom
discussions about this. We also
discussed the Last Supper.
MEMORY for next week:
4/23-Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your
paths straight. ~Proverbs 3: 5-6
4/26-”To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in You I trust.” ~Psalm 25:1-2a
LANGUAGE ARTS: We have been learning SO much more about
Harry Truman as we discussed his high school years and some of the events that
helped him become the man that he was.
Next week, we will finish up this chapter book as we learn about his
presidency.
SPELLING WORDS for next week, Friday, April 26th:

the United States)
government, lumberyard, courthouse, fountain,

MATH: We are learning about decimals and how they directly
relate to fractions, and have been practicing how to correctly read tenths and
hundredths, and how to compare them. We
will review this chapter tomorrow and test over it on Monday. Then, we will start working with money! 😊 On that note, ALL of the 4th graders have
passed their multiplication test!
Woohoo! We will have a party to
celebrate the last week of school.
SCIENCE: We discussed invertebrates and vertebrates this
week! We made models of both, and
hypothesized which type of animal was stronger and could hold more weight! We completed some group work, where we worked
together on vocabulary and sharing previous knowledge.
ART: We studied Osage
pottery this week, and recreated some pots using fast-drying clay. This was fun (and MESSY!) ;) We
painted them today. :)
MUSIC: We practiced singing some of our songs for our
upcoming Spring Musical.
