May God Bless You :)

Hi, 4th Grade, Parents!  It has been wonderful visiting with you!  Being able to talk about where your student is academically, spiritually, and emotionally is such a blessing, and I am thankful for our relationship.  I am excited to see the rest of you this afternoon/evening.

*On REFORMATION DAY, (next Thursday, October 31st), we will have a special German lunch (provided by the Brunkhorsts).  Students are welcome to bring their own lunches or to partake in our feast in the classroom.  We will be having family recipes of wiener schnitzel and sauerkraut, German potato salad, corn, and German chocolate cake.  We will have our Fall Party in the afternoon.

*Animal Fiction/Hamburger book reports are due next Thursday, October 31st.

*We will be commemorating VETERAN’S DAY on November 11th, with a service celebrating them!  Our students will be singing, reading poetry and prayers, and thanking God for our veterans!  We encourage you to use the attached flyer to invite family, friends, and neighbors to Timothy Lutheran School’s Veterans Day Celebration.  Everyone is welcome!

*If you have a family member who has a military uniform that your child can wear during our performance on Veteran’s Day, it would be greatly appreciated.  Great care will be taken of them!  Please let Mrs. Hatcher know by emailing her at beckieh@timothylutheran.com. Thank you!

*Also, if you have any veterans you love and want us to celebrate in our slideshow, please send information to me (kimb@timothylutheran.com) by November 1st.   Thank you!

Here is what is needed for each veteran:

-A photograph (digital copies are preferred, please):

-First and Last Name of the veteran

-Which student this veteran is related to, and how...

-Branch of Service

-Years of Service

-Any other important information you may want added!

(If your photos were in last year’s slideshow, please let us know this, as that information has been saved and you don’t need to send it in again.)

THANK YOU to all veterans!  It is humbling to know how many have given their lives, their time, and their service to God, to us, and to our country.  Thank you SO much!

*4th Grade hosts Chapel on November 13th, at 8:45.  Please join us!

*Get Ready for TLS TRIVIA NIGHT!  Join us for the annual TLS Trivia Night on Friday, Nov. 15th, at the Elks Lodge, located at 100 SE Brizendine Rd., Blue Springs. Doors will open at 6:00pm and trivia will start at 7:00pm. It’s sure to be a wickedly fun evening filled with trivia. All proceeds benefit the TLS Scholarship Fund—don’t let this opportunity melt away!  You’ll have plenty of laughs, with chances to win prizes like The Winning Trivia Team (no need for a heart or courage here!), Best Themed Costumes & Table Decorations, and even Last Place Team—because even the Scarecrow deserves a little love!  There will be two different ticket options this year: a regular ticket at $25 per person or $160 for a table of 8 and you may bring your own snacks OR a meal ticket which includes a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, and chips at $35 per person or $240 per table. (Do you want a meal, but the rest of your teammates don’t? No worries! The wizard can grant that wish for just $10/meal.)   No need to click your heels together to find a team; our organizers will match you with fellow players! It’s a fantastic way to meet other Timothy families and make some friends on the yellow brick road.  Don’t forget to bring some extra cash for Mulligans (4 for $10, or 9 for $20) and Block-Your-Neighbor tokens (2 for $10 or 3 for $15), 50/50 raffle, and a cash bar where you can purchase some liquid courage!

Seats are limited, so grab your tickets before they disappear over the rainbow!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION/LANGUAGE ARTS- We learned all about Martin Luther and the Reformation this week!  We read several stories about Martin, watched a few videos, dug into God’s Word, and analyzed parts of his life.  We also learned the hymn, “A Mighty Fortress,” penned by Martin Luther himself.  We are so thankful for the blessing he is to our faith, yet we know he too, was a great sinner.  We discussed ways we can stand up for our faith too—not recant---and share the love of Jesus everywhere we go!  We discussed nouns, verbs, adjectives this week, as well as character analysis.  The kiddos loved this song called, “Reformation Rock,” by Lost and Found, so I promised I would share the video with you…So, you too, can hum this song day and night.  You are welcome.  :)  https://youtu.be/tsbRDyErfOI

 MEMORY for Next Week:

10/29- THE FIRST COMMANDMENT- You shall have no other gods.

What does this mean?  We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

11/1- THE SECOND COMMANDMENT-You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

SPELLING Words for Friday, November 1st, Story: "Dear Mr. Winston"

spark, prepare, cheer, tear, scarf, scare, repair, earring, scarce, weird, sharp, rear, spare, gear, hairy, compare, alarm, harsh, upstairs, square, weary, startle

Challenge Word: omnipresent

MATH- Our math brains grew this week!  We discussed the factors and multiples, prime and composite numbers, and learned the properties of multiplication and rules of division.  We are working on the 7’s in mad minutes!

SOCIAL STUDIES- We learned about the Midwest and Mountain Regions and completed map work.  It has been interesting to learn about the indigenous people from these regions and how they lived.

 SPECIAL CLASSES

ART- We learned what a collage is and then created Luther Seals using so many different supplies/media we had around the building!  i.e. cotton balls, sequence, yarn, rice, really anything…they are stunning and are hanging out in the 4-G’s area!

MUSIC- We practiced our songs for the upcoming Veteran’s Day Program.

COMPUTERS/WRITERS’ WORKSHOP- We worked on and began publishing our personal narratives.

P.E.-We played Four Quadrant Dodgeball!

Have a blessed and fun weekend!
