*Get Ready for TLS TRIVIA NIGHT! Join us for the annual TLS Trivia Night next Friday,
Nov. 15th, at the Elks Lodge, located at 100 SE Brizendine Rd., Blue Springs.
Doors will open at 6:00pm and trivia will start at 7:00pm. It’s sure to be a
wickedly fun evening filled with trivia. All proceeds benefit the TLS
Scholarship Fund—don’t let this opportunity melt away! You’ll have plenty of laughs, with chances to
win prizes like The Winning Trivia Team (no need for a heart or courage here!),
Best Themed Costumes & Table Decorations, and even Last Place Team—because
even the Scarecrow deserves a little love!
There will be two different ticket options this year: a regular ticket
at $25 per person or $160 for a table of 8 and you may bring your own snacks OR
a meal ticket which includes a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, coleslaw, and
chips at $35 per person or $240 per table. (Do you want a meal, but the rest of
your teammates don’t? No worries! The wizard can grant that wish for just
$10/meal.) No need to click your heels
together to find a team; our organizers will match you with fellow players!
It’s a fantastic way to meet other Timothy families and make some friends on
the yellow brick road. Don’t forget to
bring some extra cash for Mulligans (4 for $10, or 9 for $20) and
Block-Your-Neighbor tokens (2 for $10 or 3 for $15), 50/50 raffle, and a cash
bar where you can purchase some liquid courage!
Seats are limited, so grab your tickets before they
disappear over the rainbow!

* On Friday, November 22nd, at 11:00, the 4th graders will
have their classroom THANKSGIVING FEAST in lieu of lunch. We will be studying
the first Thanksgiving and all about the Pilgrims and Wampanoag. We will also
be talking about all the things we, as Christian Americans, should be thankful
for! What a wonderful way to praise our Father for all He has given! I
will supply the turkey and mashed potatoes and gravy, but if you are willing to
send in some “extras” it would be mighty appreciated! Please take a look
at the sign-up if you are able! (I have several outlets in our classroom
for crock pots, if needed.) Thanks so much for your help!

*We do not have school November 25th-29th. Teachers have the MO District Teacher’s
Conferences the 24th-26th, and then we have Thanksgiving
Break!
Here is what we have been up to this week:
RELIGION- This week, we learned about the foretelling of
Jesus’ birth, how John the Baptist prepared the way, and the birth of our
Savior! We discussed the 3rd
commandment and talked about how it applies to our lives.
MEMORY for Next Week:
11/12-THE THIRD COMMANDMENT
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. What does this
mean? We should fear and love God so
that we do not despise preaching and His Word, but hold it sacred and gladly
hear and learn it.
11/15-THE FOURTH
COMMANDMENT
Honor your father and your mother. What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not
despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and
cherish them.
LANGUAGE ARTS-
This week, we read the book “the Butterfly” by Patricia
Polacco. This book is a true story about
WWII, the invasion of the Nazis, and the French underground and
resistance. We had some very poignant
conversations about the war, about bravery, and about soldiers that fight for
what they believe in. We also used other
books of Patricia Polacco’s to discuss the Civil War and WWI. (“Pink and Say” and “Tucky Jo and Little
Heart.”) We used Venn diagrams, character analysis, and sequencing events to
understand these stories. We also had
large discussions about veterans and Veterans Day this week.
SPELLING WORDS for Friday, November 15th: (from “Molly’s
Pilgrim”)-
1. admired, 2. ignorant, 3. pilgrim, 4. model, 5. naturally,
6. taunted, 7. modern, 8.tenement, 9. giggle, 10. clothespin, 11. Wampanoag
MATH- We reviewed and tested over Unit 5 this week—factors,
multiples, finding the patterns in numbers.
We began Unit 6, which is reviewing multiplication strategies with
multi-digit numbers. We are busy
memorizing our 7’s in mad minutes.
SOCIAL STUDIES- We finished learning all about the regions of the United Sates. We completed our Chapter 1 review and will test over this information next Wednesday. Here is a fun Jeopardy game that will help your kiddo have an easier time studying: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1vwzmU16geYnFfAAW_fG0sVkvx7LdbaP_suUPiySe75o/edit?usp=sharing
We
will play this game in class on Monday!
;) We also began memorizing states,
and will test over these on November 20th.
Study guides and flash cards will be coming home! We learned all about the election process this
week, by discussing the pathways to running for office, and then having our own
class election! We each made an ID, and
then filled out secret ballots for president and for the Dog vs. Cat
debate! It was fun! Next week, we will focus on the First
Thanksgiving and then get back into our Science books!
SPECIAL CLASSES
ART- We painted flags for the Veterans Day Program, then
went on a hunt to find “patriotic” words in magazines. These were glued to the flags and finalized
with Modge Podge.
MUSIC- We practiced our songs for the upcoming Veteran’s Day
Program.
COMPUTERS/WRITERS’ WORKSHOP- We played states and capitals
games, reviewing what we have been discussing in Social Studies.
P.E.-We played tag games this week—PacMan and Tunnel Tag!
WRITERS’ WORKSHOP-We wrote letters and cards to veterans to
pass out at the doors when they arrive on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend!
