YAY for SONshine! :)

Hello, Parents!  I hope you are doing well!  Three important things:

  1. I am THANKFUL that we had a FULL week of school!  :)
  2. It was so GREAT to see and visit with moms and other special people on Wednesday!
  3. We played outside A LOT this week!  It was SO beautiful!

*SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS- (4th-6th grades) We are headed to the School of Economics on Monday, March 24th, and we are SO excited for this trip!  We began preparing this week!  We met to discuss the shops, had our mayoral campaign and voted!  Our new mayor is...(drumroll, please!)...Warren Montgomery!  It was a close, exciting race!

On MONDAY, we will have our job interviews.  Please make sure your kiddo is prepared with their job application.  Thank you!

We will need some of you to help that day!  We will need between 12-21 parent volunteers for this trip, and just have a few spots left!  Parent help is needed all day.  THANK YOU for all of you that have signed up.  These parents will have training at the School of Economics at 8:45, the day of our visit.  We will meet them there, which also means we need some parents that will only be able to drive us there and drop us off.  We will need to leave school no later than 9:10, so if you are able to do this, please help us out!  Thanks!

Here is the link to sign-up to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-school

A paper copy permission slip has come home.  Please sign and return this.

 Other important information:

-There is not a cost for you, as you paid for this field trip in your enrichment fees this fall.

-Students will NOT need to pack a lunch, as they will be making their own lunches that day.  **If your child has food allergies and would rather bring in their own food out of safety concerns, that is preferred - please speak with your child's teacher.   (Volunteers will be given School of Economics money that day to buy lunch too!)

-Our day ends there at 1:30, so we should return to school about 2:00.

 Date: 3/24/25  (Monday)

Time: 9:00am - 1:30pm

Location: School of Economics, 200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs, MO 64015

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: We focused on the stories of “Jesus Healing the Boy Who Was Sick” and “Jesus Healing the Man who was Paralyzed.”  We talked about the power of God, and how He sent Jesus who can heal our sickness of body and soul.  Praise the Lord!  We discussed the third and fourth petitions of the Lord’s Prayer. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. We reviewed what God’s Will actually is and what daily bread is, which is all of our daily gifts from God that we need.  We are so very blessed to be His sons and daughters!

 MEMORY:

3/4-For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 6:23

3/7- For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus… ~Romans 3:23-24

LANGUAGE ARTS: We read the true story, “The Screech Owl Who Loved Television,”  and had a wonderful discussion about the captivity of animals and what kinds of habitats animals need in order to thrive.  This week, we focused on suffixes, finding the main idea, and facts/opinions.  We shared book reports today and learned about our March book report.  Information is coming home today.  Next week, we will be reading and sharing a story about immigration and becoming U.S. citizens that ties in with our School of Economics unit! We shared the attached PowerPoint, which talks about some famous immigrants.

SPELLING WORDS for Friday, March 7th, from the story “A Very Important Day:”

horse, chore, firm, learn, dirty, curve, world, pure, board, course, heard, return, cure, score, worm, thirteen, worn, curl, shirt, search, *allegiance

MATH: We began Unit 9 this week, where we have learned how to add and subtract like fractions.  Please continue working on those multiplication facts at home!

SCIENCE:  We tested over our cell chapter today!  I am proud of how hard the students worked to learn this material.  We will dive head first into Missouri History on Monday.  :)

SPECIALS:

Art-We listened to a poem entitled “One Summer Night,” where we had to use our imaginations to imagine the visions that were created in the poem.  We also red the book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” by Maurice Sendak, and then created our own WILD THINGS!  They are hanging in the hallway outside of our classroom to entertain you!

Music-We practiced our two songs we will be singing for worship on Sunday, March 30th. (“Make Me a Servant” and “Gethsemane”)  We also worked on songs for the Spring Musical.

P.E.- We stretched, played outside, and did an obstacle course on the playground!  Yay for sunshine!

Writers’ Workshop- We worked on finding the main idea and how to write a proper paragraph.

We shared our Mystery Book Reports!

God's Blessings,
Kim
