It's the end of third quarter!

Hi, parents!  It has been a wonderful week!  Today is the LAST DAY of the 3rd quarter!  Can you believe it?!  This year is flying by… too quickly for me…Goodness!  I told the kiddos that I am working on report cards today, but I will take revisions on work, for ½ credit on correct work, by Tuesday, the latest, please.  (B and lower—regular papers only, no tests.) Report cards will come home next Friday.  Thank you!

It was wonderful seeing some of you at Chapel.  I was so proud of the kiddos and the message they shared.  We taught the school how to be like Jesus and fight off temptations with the power of God’s Word.  Let it be our Sword of Truth!

Blue Springs Rotary hosts an annual coloring contest for students in the local schools.   This year's theme is "What does Kindness Look Like to you".  The 3-5 winner was our Lydia Nicolaus!  YAY!  Blue Springs Rotary presented a check to Lydia to be used for our school’s art supplies.  Congratulations to Lydia!

Reminders:

*We will have SNOW MAKE-UP days on April 17th and 21st.  If you already have traveled planned, please just let the office know.  Thank you!

*SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS- (4th-6th grades) We are headed to the School of Economics on Monday, March 24th.  We have been working hard at school!  This week, we learned what our jobs are, filled out passports, filled out loan applications, made up our shop names, and worked on our shop signs.

We have enough parent volunteers to help at the SOE of that day, but we still need parent drivers, PLEASE!  We just need drivers to drive us there and just drop us off.  We will leave school about 9:10.  Thank you!  Here is the link:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C4DADAB2DA7F58-school

Please remember to not sign-up your kiddo for hot lunch at Timothy that day!  They will be eating at the School of Economics.  (They will be “buying” their lunch with money earned that day.)

A paper copy permission slip has come home.  Please sign and return this. Thanks!

Date: 3/24/25  (Monday)

Time: 9:00am - 1:30pm

Location: School of Economics, 200 NW 14 St, Blue Springs, MO 64015

*TRACK-A few weeks ago, I sent out an email about track here at Timothy.  If your 4th grader is interested in joining, please let me know!  Practices begin April 1st.  Thank you!

Here is what we have been up to this week:

RELIGION: We worked on our Chapel message and also discussed the story of Jesus Foretelling of His Death and Resurrection.  We discussed how God showed His love for us when Jesus unselfishly gave His life on the cross to save us from our sins.  We praise God for this plan that he laid out for us!

MEMORY: 3/18-Who so happy as I am,

Even now the Shepherd's lamb?

And when my short life is ended,

By His angel host attended,

He shall fold me to His breast,

There within His arms to rest.

3/21-”Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”  ~Psalm 51:10

LANGUAGE ARTS: We read the true story of Sacajawea, Charbonneau, their son Pomp, and Lewis and Clark.   This goes hand-in-hand with what we are studying in Missouri History!   We were amazed at their adventures, their bravery, and the geographical and scientific discoveries the Corps of Discovery made during their expedition.  We also talked a lot about abbreviations, onomatopoeias, shades of meaning, and finding the main idea and details this week.

SPELLING WORDS for next Friday, March 21, from the story entitled, “The Earth Dragon Awakens”- rising, traced, stripped, slammed, dancing, striped, winning, snapping, bragging, handled, dripped, begged, dared, skipped, hitting, spotted, raced, dimmed, spinning, escaped, urged, striving, *centenarian

MATH: This week, we reviewed how to interpret mixed numbers, and how to make them into improper fractions to solve subtractions problems, and then place them back into mixed numbers.  We will review over this unit on Monday, and test next Tuesday.  We are still working on memorizing those multiplication math facts!

MO HISTORY: We discussed the MO State flag and its symbols and then created classroom seals and a classroom flag too!  We voted on these and Lydia created our classroom one to hang in our room!  Congrats, Lydia!  We discussed the questions:  How big is our state?  What are the Missouri state holidays? and Who is our governor, Mike Kehoe?  We also discussed fun things we do at the Lake of the Ozarks…Lots of memories were shared!  We discussed Missouri’s state capital, Jefferson City, and located a lot of the cities that we have traveled to in Missouri.

SPECIALS:

Art- We studied the artists Norman Rockwell and Mary Engelbreit and saw how they used images from everyday life to help make their drawings and paintings.  We then chose our “happiest memories” and drew them.  We added watercolor, tempera paint, and oil pastels.

Music-We practiced our two songs we will be singing for worship on Sunday, March 30th. (“Make Me a Servant” and “Gethsemane”)  We also worked on songs for the Spring Musical.

P.E.- We were outside this week practicing our “obstacle course” and learning track skills.

Writers’ Workshop- We shared our “Very Important Day” writings in Readers’ Theatre, and we drafted, revised, and edited paragraphs about our “Happiest Memories.”

God's Blessings,

Kim
